I have an awful cold and would love to take something but am not sure what I can do. I thought I could use Afrin, but the pharmacist says no, so I have saline drops, but that is not very helpful. Any ideas?
I just got over a bad sinus infection. I was on a z-pack but the doc said no decongestant because it would dry everything up...including my milk supply!
Both my doctor and my pedi said Afrin was ok because it's inhaled rather than ingested. It didn't affect my supply at all. That said, you might want to see if you can get an Rx for nasocort or something because you can only use Afrin for about 3 days (even if you're not BFing). Also, have you ever tried Netti potting? It works wonders for me. Good luck.
A neti pot is like a little teapot that you put saline in. You pour the fluid in through one nostril and let it flow out the other. You can get one at Walgreens or any drug store probably. It really helps me when my allergies are acting up! Google neti pot and you will get a better idea of what it is.
