Re: Anyone have AFLAC?

  • Are you getting a Life policy?

  • I have it for short term and long term disability...not sure what type of policy you're looking into.  I've had it for about 5 years, and have no complaints so far, last year I added to the policy so that I get $$ when I deliver LO.  Not sure how all that will work out yet.  I do know that if you're looking into it for LO's delivery (hospital stay etc.) it's too late, Aflac requires you to put the policy into place 10 months prior to delivery.

  • No both DH and I have great life insurance policies (not that id be against ahaving another one) but we were looking at the supplemental insurance. Last year DH got hurt at work and the bills piled up high quickly.. workers comp took 7 weeks to send him a pay check... so something like this would help us... esp with a baby on the way.

Thanks!  Lucikly we dont need it for the delivery.  We're using my FSA $$ for that.. our insurance only leaves us 10% co pay and it maxes at 1k. Is it expensive?

It's relatively inexpensive, especially just for the disability portion...I believe that you can tailor it to your specific needs (i.e. salary earnings).  I have never had to take advantage of it (thankfully) but I believe that the way it works is that if injured, and unable to work, you contact your agent, submit the proper paperwork and 2 weeks later your payments kick in.

In addition to that, not sure if it's a rider policy or not (it's been so long I can't really remember how mine is set up), Aflac pays you for doctor visits (apparently excluding prenatal, as I have found out) but once a year, they would pay me $60.00 for wellness visits; I just had to submit a simple form.  Kind of a nice little bonus!! :)

  • That is super sweet!! Im def gonna look into it!

  • Supplemental policies are great to have. I personally don't have AFLAC but I work at State Farm and our policies are great! They are a very resonable price too!
  • I currently have a STD & cancer policy with Aflac.  I used my STD after having DS and if I remember, the $$ came pretty quickly once I filed my claim.  The paperwork was no worse than any other STD policy.  I haven't had to use the cancer policy for anything.  I used to have the accident policy and it is great.  I once got poison ivy and they sent me $$ just for going to the doctor to have it looked at.  The co-pay was $15 and they sent me $70 (I think).  I just had to submit the claim form.  I discontinued that for the cancer policy but all in all, I really like Aflac and haven't had any issues with them.
  • We offer it to our employees and there have been lots that have benefited from it.  I have the hospital indemnity plan and get $500 for every 24 hours that I am in the hospital, including for pregnancy complications and delivery.  There are several different policies to choose from.
