Which do you like? What do you like about them? Where do you buy them? How many do you need at different stages?
DD was small (long and skinny - 6lbs at birth) and I think this one will be about the same size at birth so I need diapers that work for long skinny babies. I am flexible on buying stuff for itty bitty babies and then buying the long term ones (ex: bum genius) when the baby is a bit older and bigger.
I appreciate any info you have to share. I want to hear the good and bad so I can make an educated decision on them. Thanks!
Re: tell me all about cloth diapers...
Gah, there's so much I could say! If you're able to make it, I can show you a bunch in person on May 8th.
Honestly, for a potentially tall & skinny baby, I think prefolds and covers would be your best bet. The only drawback is that they are also the hardest to learn to use (but they are the easiest to take care of, the cheapest, and last fo'freaking ever.)
I think KNJepp has had great luck with her Fuzzi Bunz in an extra small size. The only drawback to them is that they have snaps, not velcro, so getting a good fit can be just a tiny bit tricky, but again, it's not a big deal.
I think most people love the Kissaluvs Size 0 with a good cover for the newborn stage. I've just never been a huge fitted fan, so we didn't really love them. However, they are easier to use than a prefold and since you put a cover over them, they're pretty bulletproof for leaks.
You might also want to look into a CD trial (I know Jillian's Drawers has probably the most popular trial package) to see what is going to work for you. The nicest thing about CDing is that no matter what kind of diaper you use, you can for them all the same way. It makes it easy to mix and match styles and not have to worry about caring for them differently.
I know lots of people have good luck just using one type of diaper, but for me, I've found that depending on the need, different styles work best for us. Just around the house, we loved prefolds. Nap times, and outings, we loved Fuzzi Bunz and SposoEasies. Overnights, BumGenius 3.0s with hemp inserts are our favorites. I also adore the one organic BumGenius all in one, one sized we have. It's my most expensive diaper though, so we only have one. I'm going to get more for Ginger though.

C is definitely a long and skinny baby.
We've mainly done XS FuzziBunz, with a few prefolds with Bummis covers (b/c I got them free for product testing) mixed in. The prefolds and covers worked just fine, but DH and I both prefer the FuzziBunz.
Initially, we just used the FB with the insert that came with them. Once C started becoming a heavier wetter and we started trying to go more than 2 hours between diaper changes (somewhere around the 5-6 week mark, I think? Maybe 4 weeks?), we started having some issues with leaking, mainly because of his skinny legs. C hates getting his clothes wet, so I had to come up with a solution.
Now, there are all kinds of additional inserts you can buy, but I'm cheap and I used what I had on-hand. I had a slew of the flatfold birdseye diapers. I would fold one in thirds, then fold that long piece in half (making it shorter), then fold it in half again, ending up with a folded piece of fabric about the size of a letter envelope. I would put the microterry insert that comes with the FB on top of that, and stuff the whole thing into the diaper. Since I started doing that, we haven't had a single leak, regardless of how long of a stretch he may go at night between changes (longest so far is just shy of 8 hours).
The sizing on the XS FB is 5-12 lbs, and with a skinny baby, at least, I would say this is true. C is now right around the 12 lb mark (and at least 23"), and they're getting snug on him. I've been testing out some other diapers to pick what our next choice is going to be, and need to hurry up and get them ordered before he busts out of the XS FB altogether!
ETA: We're currently "testing" one-size options that should take care of our diaper needs until C is ready to potty-train.
I was just coming over here to ask the very smae question (lol). I have not purchase any CD's ye, but will by saturday. As of now from all my research I w ould like to use the one size Diapers, because both DD and the baby can use them, so far the ones that I'm looking into are the Flip diapers, Smartipants and Grow Baby. I found a local store on 290 that carries most of these, Nurtured Family (www.nurturedfamily.com). I went there today and completely fell in love with the place, they also offer free cloth diapering classes, I'm going on Saturday morning at 10:30. The other place that seems to be pretty popular online is www.jilliansdrawers.com You can actually do a cloth diapering trial with them to see which one you like, I love their customer service, I've called and asked several questions, and they were very helpful.
And the EFF ladies directed me to this site, which I thought were pretty helpful

I also found this Video review of pretty much all the cloth diapers that's out there, I thought it was also pretty helpful.

FYI, there is a good deal for GroBaby CD's today on www.babysteals.com
