This shouldn't bother me Re: Octomom

I watched about 20 mins of the Oprah thing yesterday with her on while I was making dinner and out of all the crazy things going on (couldn't find her kids, one kid stomping the crap out of the other, baked bean for dinner!!) I cannot get over her having a 14 month old in an infant car seat. The kid was WAY to long for it. How dangerous. I can't believe she can still get him buckled in it. She should have used some of her 100,000 to buy a bigger carseat. This shouldn't bother me, there are kids neglected everyday but I couldn't get over how crazy her house was and how unprepared she was.

    The car seat thing bugged me too... almost as much as that girl on 16 & Pregnant with the twins. Those kids were about to fly out of the car she was driving so fast!

    I expect my LO will be small enough at 14 months to still fit her infant seat.

    I take it octo's kid was too big though?

    To me she seemed like she was doing a job throughout the day, not being a mom.  Not much hugging and kissing but I think you would have to run your house like a daycare with that many.  Oh and the toddler stomping on the baby made me sick.

    This is the saddest thing about our society right now to me! That we reward people like the Octomom with fame and money for making irresponsible choices. She is obviously a little mentally ill. I am all for people having children but clearly there is something wrong with her. But now look at her she is famous and was on Oprah (I would like to just be in the Oprah show audience)!

    Same goes for these women that are cheating with the famous men (Tiger Woods, Elliot Spitzer)! I feel like the machine of our media rewards them! I know the men are at fault (and trust me if my husband cheated I would be angry at HIM not at her) but giving them covers of magazines, glamming them up for press and buying their exclusive books.... is wrong IMO

    His feet were about 6 inches out the bottom and his head cleared the top sure. They were way too big. If not in weight, definitely in length.

    I totally agree. I reguse to buy magazines when this happens. I usually buy Vanity Fair but the month all the Tiger girls were on I was totally turned off and probably won't buy it again.

    How long your kids' legs are have nothing to do with the safety of the seat. You should go by weight and where their head is, and the straps are. It's perfectly fine for the legs to hang way over - and in fact you should keep them rear facing as long as possible - it's still safer to have their legs bent than to be forward-facing.

    Part of what really bothers me is that since she was being filmed that was her on her BEST behavior.  I imagine that it's much worse when there are no cameras.  I feel so sorry for those kids.

    Convertible carseats are rear facing. I didnt expect her to put him in a booster. But he was clearly to long for the infant seat. Head and feet.
