I posted the other night that we were starting to put DD to sleep in her crib. She had been in her PNP next to our bed since birth, but she is reaching its weight limit. But her sleep has worsened- well, ALL of our sleep has worsened the past 3 days. I BF and when she wakes up and cries I go get her and feed her in my bed because it is the most comfortable place for us. Then she will fall asleep in my arms but when I walk her back into her room she wakes up! She also breaks out of her swaddle on the way back to her crib. So I end up rocking her to sleep, or DH comes in and finishes putting her down. When she was in the PNP I could just put her there from our bed and she would go right back to sleep after nursing.
So . . . we are thinking of moving the crib into our room. But DH will have to disassemble part of it to get in since it won't fit through the doorway. Maybe we'll tackle sleeping in her own crib after she starts solids and drops a night feeding.
Anyone have a similar experience? How did you handle it?
Re: DD sleeping in her crib = FAIL (long)
I wonder if it's really the switch that is causing the problem, or something else? Did the bad sleep start on the same day that you put her in her crib?
Another thing to think about is maybe move the PnP into her room and try her in there, and see if it makes a difference? When we moved DD, we first moved the PnP into the room and let her sleep in it for awhile. Then we moved her into the crib. I don't know how close to the weight limit she is, but maybe you could try it for a couple nights? Good luck.
I think we have a few more nights of use of the PNP so that is a good idea. Her sleep has not been good for the past few weeks- from teething to a cold. We thought maybe being in her own room and away from our sounds may help, but not so far.
Also, if she needs more time in the PnP than the weight limit will allow, you might consider letting her sleep on the lowered mattress. It's harder to get LO out, but the feel of the mattress will be the same, so if it takes longer to get her into the crib, you have a buffer.
