Orange County Babies

When did you start thinking about having another baby?

Just wondering because I'm defenitely having the crave to have another baby. DD is growing up so fast and she is super independent. I'm left with that feeling of still wanting to cradle and cuddle more but she jsut wants to get out of my arms and play.

I thought we would wait until DD was 3 to 4 years old to enjoy her being a baby but lately I been feeling like that may be too long.

Re: When did you start thinking about having another baby?

  • I hear ya... We have decided to start trying now... DS is 17months old now and the baby will be about 25months apart if everything goes to the plan...

most of my friends who have babies around 15 to 18months old are all getting pregnant... I guess after the first one passes 1year mark I guess it's good to start...

    Good Luck!

  • Sometimes I tihnk about it and would love another babe. But all it takes is one bad night with DD waking up and I'm done! LOL! I vow to never have anymore. I go back and forth. Although if I was sure I wanted another one then I tihnk that when DD was 18 months it would be a perfect age difference to start trying.

  • We started thinking about #2 when DS was 6 months. We knew we wanted our kids to be 2-3 years apart. We didn't start trying until DS was 1 year. I was the same too, I started to miss the baby stage. I knew we couldn't wait 2 years to start trying.
  • I started thinking about #3 the minute I delivered, which is totally weird.  I will be 33 in July, so I don't have thaaaaat much time before I hit 35, which is considered AMA.  And it took a lot to get pregnant with these girls, so I have to plan ahead, sadly.

But like PP said, it takes one bad day for me to say we're done.  ;)

I do miss being pregnant and in a perfect world, we'd have another one when the girls are a year and a half old or so.

  • Ideally, we wanted a 2ish year age difference.  As soon as DD turned 18mo, we started trying.  I didn't think I'd get KU first month and honestly, at that point I don't think I was really ready to be pg again or have a newborn.  BUT now that I'm rounding the corner to the finish, the timing couldn't have been better.  DD just turned two and it's like the switch from my baby girl to big girl.  Even in the past month, she's changed.  I'm ready to have another babe now...

  • We go back & forth as to when/if we would like to try for #2. Since I work from home, one without a nanny/mother's helper is pushing it & I know if we add another to the mix that I will need to get a second set of hands in here during the day. FI & his closest brother are four years apart in age though and he feels that it was a really big age gap so he would like to avoid it. We would really have to plan it - I'd have to have my Mirena removed.

  • when DJ was that age....I was ready.  now, not so much.  i am so tired chasing a 2 year old and having an infant scares me.  so we are waiting at least another year.
  • Well.....we got preg with Cavrie when DS was 10 months old. I though it would be great to have them so close together and bla, bla, bla. I don't know what I was thinking?? When DS is running around like a wild man or throwing a fit I think to my self, can you imagine having a 2, 3 or 4 month old right now??

We do want another baby, but we will be waiting until next year. With the terrible two's around the corner who knows what we are in for?

  • thanks for feedback ladies! Yeah, we go back and forth too.

I'm sort of in that thinking...it took us two miscarriages and 8 months of trying to get DD so I'm thinking how long will it take next time, I don't want it be too late before we start trying again if we are going to go through the same ordeal but then again, life has shown me that you can't plan these things....hmmm...so my plan is not to plan!

  • I think I started thinking about it when baby was 18 months old, when it started to finally get easier.  If everything works out fine with this baby #2, they'll be 2.5 years apart.
