I am due in 3 weeks and have found while my nesting instinct is strong to clean, my 2yr old is wearing me out and I just can't get it done... wanting to have someone come in next week and deep clean for me... I have tried so many cleaners in the past and never found them detailed enough so am considering springing the extra dough for a company like Merry Maid/Molly Maid to come in and clean (hoping that whole "you get what you pay for" philosophy would hold true here... It would be about $85/hour with 2 hour minimum for 2 cleaners to come in and do their extra deep spring cleaning... I really couldn't afford more than 2.5 hours of their service so not sure how much they would get done (we have a 1-story 1700 sf home) so not a huge house or anything.
They said with their deep spring cleaning they are more detailed then normal which sounds perfect to me... and she said I can make a priority list of where to start and focus so they can be sure to get the most done for what I want and time I want to pay for...
If you have used this service before - is it worth it? I could never afford for a regular cleaner but seriously need my house in shape for my sanity before this little boy comes.... I think I can maintain until he gets here on my own - just can't get it in shape in one day on my own to the detail I want it.
Experience GREATLY appreciated!!
Re: Anyone ever use Merry Maid or Molly Maid??
Short answer: If you are just having them clean once, go for it. Our reasonably clean 1600 sqft house took about 3.5 hours for two cleaners. The cleaners did a good job (but worked rather slow... or i just clean fast?), but the management is disorganized and a giant pain to deal with.
You should ask if they have any specials or discounts for first time users. Our first visit was less than that (about a year ago).
Long answer: We tried Molly Maid (are the two the same thing?) and were displeased. They cleaned great, but despite assuring us that they'd focus on what we wanted (i just wanted kitchen/bathroom, floors and dust corners, as we have super high ceilings) and they did great in the kitchen but wouldn't clean under the clawfoot tub and wouldn't dust the high corners. They were also early the first time (by 3 hours) so i wasn't dressed (i was home sick that day) and they wouldn't talk to me about my expectations (they said they do the same thing in every house). We also cancelled our third (and last) appointment with them a week and a half ahead of time and they showed up, then billed us half the cost of the cleaning (we didn't leave the key, since we weren't expecting them) and a note about how we wasted their time and next time we did that the fee would be 75% of the scheduled cleaning fee. Even after talking to management we were still repeatedly billed for the fee and called both to urge us to pay the (unfounded) fee and to schedule our next appointment.
interesting - no molly maid is a different company than merry maids (who I am planning to use) but they do the same thing, and same idea with the two cleaners - priced the same... hopefully they are managed a little better though!
I talked to both companies on the phone and just liked the sales pitch I got from merry maid better
We will see how they do I guess - definitely a one time cleaning from them though - going to be pricey...but once the deep clean is done, not so bad to have someone more reasonably priced maintain from time to time and maintain myself inbetween
I really hate cleaning though!
I've never used either service but wanted to say that their pricing is a bit spendy. The cleaners I used for years charged around $25-$30/person/hour. I had a fixed price of a 1x/month cleaning for $115 -- and this was for a 2-story 1400 sq ft condo. They were super awesome. I've had friends use them and the only negative review I heard was that THEY were a little on the expensive end compared to other cleaners.
One-time cleanings tend to be on the pricier side so that might explain the price...but if you do end up deciding to hire a cleaner for regular service, you may want to shop around
oh ya I am fully aware they are way pricey - and definitely would not use regularly. I have used several cleaners in the past for much less but I am so picky and have yet to find one that is thorough to my standards...I am hoping that paying the extra will be worth it to get the deep spring clean I am looking for...if not, they have a guarantee to come back out and re-clean if you are not happy with something...
We use MaidPro and have for a little over 2 years now. We found that it really depends on who you get as to the quality of their work. We went through 3 different teams to find someone we really liked. Now that we have someone we like and trust, we are very happy with their service. I've been thinking about having them do a "deep clean" on our next visit since baby is coming soon (I hope).
I would go for it... just be prepared to call and request they come back if you are not satisfied.
do you know what their hourly rate is? Are they super thorough - I want our house to sparkle
