I was wondering when I'll stop being a Newbie (even though I am still a newbie) Is it based on length of stay or posts? Do you know what the points are for?

I've always wondered about this too. If anyone has the answer, I'd be curious to know.
I think you get bronze at 500 posts. Also, I thought we were going to get into a tanning debate when I saw the subject line. Congrats on the loss of the newbie status. Now you can go to the 1st tri board with confidence!
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...

Are the girls on the 1st tri board mean to newbies?

It depends - there are girls on 1st Tri who seem to have been there forever - I like them as they are good to us IF girls. The girls on 1st Tri who kill me are the clueless newbies (my BF and I had sex in the car last night and I'm certain I'm pregnant - I felt implantation - oh, yeah and I don't Chart and just went off BCPs but that's okay - I'm KU!) Ugh.

From my lurking over there, I wouldn't say they are "mean" to newbies, but when someone says something stupid or insensitive, the newbie status seems to be the first dart thrown.

Oh god - not the tanning debate. My pale Irish skin can't take it.
Bronze is post 501. I think Silver is 2001 but I'm not certain. At that rate it'll take me 12 more years to reach Silver so I'll never know.

Funny post - it took my 4 years to get Bronze too! I didn't really post much on the Knot or Nest until they created the Bump!
Silver is 2000 posts, it may take us 10 years to get there!
