Name: Laura

Due date: 6/5

Date placed on bedrest: 1/15 at 20w

Type: modified bedrest at home

Why: shortened cervix/cerclage

QOTD: What/Where was your best vacation ever?

Answer: Being on bedrest, I often dream of going on vacation.  My best trip was when DH and I flew out to Seattle to visit my friend and then booked a return flight out of Portland, Oregon 10 days later.  We had no set plans.  No itinerary- only the flight back was planned.  It was so fantastic.  We just did whatever we wanted with no schedule.  We just talked to people to find out great places to stay, eat, etc.  We ended up doing alot of fun things- leisurely toured the city, saw a baseball game, a concert, went to the beach, drank great wine and beers, slept late.  And we stayed in some cute towns in between too.  I have to say it was better than our honeymoon in the Caribbean.

Updates: I went for a prenatal massage this morning.  As my belly grows, so does the amount of back pain I've been dealing with.  It helped alot.  I felt brand new afterwards.  Other than that, things are quiet and I'm feeling good.  Hope everyone else feels good too!!

I've not traveled very much (I just turned 23). I did enjoy our trip to Sam Diego. It was my first time to the west coast and was able to see a lot in a relatively short period of time! We plan on exposing Mason to many different parts of the US and world, so I look forward to that!!

Updates: none here! Creeping up on week 28!!! Big Smile

QOTD: What/Where was your best vacation ever?

Probably our trip to San Francisco!  Just like Laura, we had no plans - just wandered the city, and ate where recommended by the locals!  We also rented a driver for the day, and went to Napa Valley for wine tasting.  It was so special, and SO much fun!!  Nothing like being tipsy all day long!  Hee hee!!

YAY for Seattle!!  (I'm a Seattleite, and gotta say, I love my city!!)

No update for me ... coming up on 30 weeks though!!  :)

    Name: Rachel

    Due date 6/4/10

Date placed on bedrest:  well i have a couple, i was put on strict bed rest for a week back in February and then went back to work, then April 8th had another visit to L&D so i guess it started then but was just "officially" told yesterday that this now modified bed rest would be for the remainder of my pregnancy

type: modified bed rest at home

reason: unexplained bleeding, uterine irritability, PTL on nifedipine. also have GD and am on insulin

QOTD: my favorite vacation sadly was not with dh.  after graduating college i went on a 6 wk backpacking trip through Europe. Starting and ending in London.  went through all of italy, france and parts of Switzerland.  in Switzerland i had life/death moment. went on a white water river raft trip in the swiss alps.  me being the daredevil i sat in front of the raft. bad choice.  made it 2/3 of the way no problem, last 1/3 the water was intense rapids, we hit a rock and me and the other person in the front went flying. OMG that water was the coldest i have ever been in and i had a full body wetsuit on and helmut. i was scared out of my mind, but was rescued and just sat in the back of another raft until we made it to safe water. but what a trip! it was awesome. plus it was fun because i went with few friends/cousins and we were laughing after because my one cousin was like OMG what am i going to tell Aunt S. your daughter died in Switzerland and your going to need to ship her body home. what was she doing oh we were just white water rafting in the swiss alps. Lol. it was great.

    Due date: 7/17

Date placed on bedrest: Officially on best rest since 4/13 (26 weeks 3 days) but been resting at home since 4/8 (25 weeks 5 days)

Type: modified bed rest - light activity, mostly have to sit around on the couch though

Why: irritable uterus and PTL contractions

QOTD: What/Where was your best vacation ever?

Our honeymoon by far! It was a two week cruise to Hawaii. Omg, so relaxing! I wish I was there now. I also really loved a trip I took to London and Edinburgh about 10 years ago. Not very relaxing, but exciting and fun.

Updates: Still waiting on the results of my GD test. My contractions seem to have picked up since last night so I guess I've been doing a little too much. I really haven't done much, but i had to take myself to get the GD test done and then I made the mistake of thinking I could load the dishwasher. Time to plant myself firmly on the couch. *sigh*

    Date placed on bedrest: 3/31

    Type: at home bedrest

    Why: PIH

QOTD: What/Where was your best vacation ever?

Answer: I have two: one pre-marriage; one with my DH. The one I'll never forget before getting married (it was the summer before my 10th grade year) I got to tour England, Italy and France with my art class. We got to go to all the major sites and see at the art - it was incredible! Since getting married, I think the best vacation we've been on was Oregon for our anniversary a couple years ago. We got to stay with some of my family friends, and we drove all across Oregon seeing different sites - we even got to go on this murder-mystery train ride. It was so much fun. I think I liked it so much because it was just me and him - and usually our vacations are with family. It was so nice for it to just be us: not having to worry about what anyone else wanted to do, and just share that time together; focusing on one another.

Updates: I go in for two NST's a week, and I had one today. I have a theory about NST's. NST's are a good indicator of how stressful a particular person is to you. My DH has taken me to all of mine, up until the past two, because he's had to do training at work that he couldn't miss (otherwise he's been working from home, and I'm so grateful!). Anyway, with him, my blood pressure holds steady at high 140's over high 80's/low 90's. My SIL took me to my one on Friday where my b/p was really high - over 90 and up to 100 on the bottom the whole time. Today my mom took me, and my blood pressure was only high 120's over high 80's. So in order of stressfulness (apparently) it goes: SIL, DH, Mom. Haha.

QOTD: What/Where was your best vacation ever?

We are originally from Oklahoma. My husband's company relocated to Portland, OR. So, we took a vacation here before we moved to see if we liked it. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. Now I love it here. I can see why a trip to Seattle would be fun! :)

We're also planning a trip to the beach this summer after the baby is here. Looking forward to that!

Update: Went to dr yesterday... not even sure why I had to go. He didn't really tell me anything new. Didn't see my regular OB since she is out of the office for two weeks. This male dr was pretty nice looking, sure hope he doesn't have to examine me... haha. I only have a week left of bedrest! Hopefully!!

Our honeymoon to Disneyworld was awesome.  We did all the parks and just did what we wanted to do.  I wanted to experience disneyworld before having kids.  We also did a week at a lake in an RV one summer which was a blast.  We BBQ, wakeboarded and just relaxed.

Update-Appt went well today.  Fluids were good, growth was good.  Yay!  She is still breech though, ergh

QOTD: Pre DH, I had an amazing trip with a group of girlfriends to the Florida Keys.  We were too young to really get into trouble, but the scenery and the accommodations with a family friend were the best.  With DH, I would have to say our first trip to Siesta Key, Florida.  We were newly dating, and we had one week with his family on the beach.  Really great to be in the "honeymoon" phase of a relationship plus a great location.

Update: Today was my first whole day home since discharge from the hospital.  I am continuing to be very obedient with limited activities, and I am feeling really good.  All the little sensations I obsessed over in the hospital have passed with time.  I see my regular OB tomorrow for some kind of game plan.  Crossing my fingers.

qotd: the best vacation i ever went on was by far our honeymoon. we went to thailand and stopped in bangkok, chiang rai and koh samui.

in chiang rai we stayed at a tented elephant camp and it was the most amazing experience of my life. we were in a tent nicer than our house and on the side of a mountain overlooking the meikong river and burma. we learned how to ride elephants and every morning at breakfast they brought out baby elephants and we fed them bananas.

samui and bangkok were awesome too. lots of sightseeing and shopping in bangkok which was fun. we stayed in gorgeous resort in samui with our own infinity pool, we didn't even have to leave the room it was fab.

type: taken out of work and resting at home.

why: diagnosed with mild pre-e.  Job is stressful, so they took me out as a precaution and are hoping that with rest - the condition won't advance.

question of the week - Going to DisneyWorld for our honeymoon.  We went for 10 days, and it was so wonderful.  We went again last summer, and we were planning on going this summer until we found out we were expecting.  Can you tell we love Disney?

updates - I was officially taken out of work yesterday, but had been restinglaying down the previous weekend in anticipation of it being official.  Have to do 24 hour urine screenslood work every week - I started that today.  I also went for my first steroid shot this afternoon and will get the second one tomorrow - strictly as a "cover all our bases" move.
