We are going with Viacord. CBR was very very aggressive and really put me off. They even managed to enlist one of my friends from graduate school who recently had a baby to try and hook me (and others) in, then offered me a discount to try and sweeten the deal. Later I found out they also offered him a discount if he managed to get me to sign up. Kind of shady, IMO. My doctor recommended Viacord, because 1) they don't offer kickbacks to doctors who recommend them, and 2) they are a part-public, part private company and would have longer staying power than a purely private company. Turns out Viacord is part of a very well-known and established biotechnology company that also does stem cell research (i.e., not just a bank). Worked for me.

We went with Cryocell. I agree about CBR being very aggressive. I spoke to all of them before my first child and liked cryo-cell the best. I would rec calling all of them and asking tons of questions.?

I know I just put up a post, but I am really bothered by some of the incounters that you have had with cbr. I am very sorry to hear that. As I posted earlier we banked with cbr and in turn ended up using our cord blood....I cannot even begin to tell you how loving, caring, and professional cbr treated our family. They held our hands through a very difficult chapter of our lives and I would only recommend cbr. They are number one in the world for cord blood banking and I have seen with my own eyes why that is.
Cbr leads the industy in research, number of units stored as well as the most experience with transplant cases.
My point is, you as a parent need to do all of your research into all of the companies. My feeling is that you will return to cbr with a full understaning of cbr is as a company and understand that those coupons and discounts that you see out there are intended to help those that want to bank cord blood and may need that financial help, not to be a pusher or gimick.
Once again please visit the links in my last post...cbr is the best choice out there, I know first hand. Good luck to all of you.
