Diarrhea and early pregnancy?

I'm only 4 weeks along, but today I had some cramping and then diarrhea (cramping went with it). I had diarrhea twice before I found out I was pregnant, too. IS THIS NORMAL? I'm nervous. I don't have any fever or anything like that.... just cramping and then diarrhea. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Diarrhea and early pregnancy?

  • Yes..I had it from about 4 weeks til about 6...still occasionally now.  My dr. said everyone reacts differently to the hormone surge.

  • I did. I had it for about 2 weeks after I found out, I got more regular after that. Make sure that you are drinking a lot of fluids (water/gatorade). If you would feel better, you can always call your doctor, they're there to answer anything you might have questions on.

  • I had it with this pregnancy and pretty much through my whole first pregnancy.

  • I tend to have an episode of intense cramping/diarrhea that lasts most of a day about once every 1-2 weeks since finding out we were pregnant.

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I thought something was wrong with me!! What do you eat to help this not be so bad? Has this replaced morning sickness for all of you or is this in addition to it?
  • I have had it off and one since I have been pregnant.  I might be your prenatal vitamins.  Ask your doctor.
Feel better. Make sure you get alot of fluids.
  • Totally Normal.Make sure you stay hydrated and drink lots of fluids though.

  • Yes, me too!!  It sucks, but it's marginally better than being constipated, IMO.

  • I'm right there with ya, sister!  And I have to agree with the last poster...at least we aren't constipated!  Smile
  • true dat on the constipation deal.

although.... you can't "hold" diarrhea until you get to a private bathroom at work. I'm scared one day I'm going to bring a change of clothes! ha!?
