I think I want #2

I just got my first cycle after 18 months and I think I'm ready to start trying for #2. I really want a little girl! Is it really irresponsible of me to want to do this when our life is a little uncertain right now? We just moved, my husband started a new job, we aren't sure how much money he'll really be making... However, I'm already 2 and it took us 4 years to conceive the first time. I tend to believe that things work themselves out. Just curious what everything thinks.

Re: I think I want #2

  • It's really up to you and YH, but I believe the same, things will work out if it's meant to be. We have been trying for 9 months, but I have all sorts of issues that my do said we should start trying with some help. Everyone is pretty supportive, but MH grandma made a comment last week that we shouldn't have kids until we're "set". What does that really mean? You know? We're both working and have benefits...I guess I don't care enough about other peoples thoughts on our family making. Once again, I believe everything will always work out! I say, if you're ready, then do it!

  • If it was me, I'd wait until things are a little bit more certain. I'm dealing with similar issues. DH was unemployed and just started a new job this month. DD is 22 months old and I'm going on 37 so I definitely feel the clock ticking. So we're getting ready to TTC again but it certainly was hard to wait the last few months.
  • I've wanted number 2 for a while now, as I have stage 3 endometreosis and as soon as I'm done with babies, I'm having a hysterectomy to help get rid of my daily pain. DD is 2 1/2 and we'll have to do Clomid to get pregnant again, but I'm only 4 months into a new job after being laid off last July. I want to be more settled in my job and also have DD out of diapers. We would just be buried with the cost of 2 in daycare. You can never be "ready" financially, IMO, but you can def. be prepared, espically knowing the cost of one. It pains me because I'd LOVE to be pregnant right now, but the smart thing to do for my family is wait until things get better....just my opinion :)
  • It is a very personal decision - if it took you a long time to conceive the first time, it might this time too, but if there are many uncertainties in your life right now, it might be better to hold off.  I am 30 and DH is 37, and this is our first, so we will probably not wait too long (2 yrs max) before we try again.  Good luck whatever you decide!
  • If you're ready you're ready! Things will work out. We waited until we were financially set and secure and to be honest I really wish we'd started earlier and just made it work. It took us 18 months to conceive the first time and 12 months to conceive the second time. Times can be rough but if you just concentrate on what is really important in life everything will work out.
  • IMO there is never a perfect time to have a baby.  Since I had both primary and secondary infertility I didn't want to wait too long. My ideal spacing was 3 yrs apart, but good thing I started ttc at 1 yr because it still took me another 18 cycles to get pregnant again even though my endometriosis and uterine polyps did not return. So in the end I'll still get my 3 yr spacing.

    GL in whatever you decide!
