Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is your baby STTN?

If so, how old and what are they eating?

My daughter is about 4.5 months, on bm but with formula supplementation (I don't produce enough) - and still wakes up 1-2 times a night. Every now and then she will tease us with a full nights sleep and we think she is turning a corner....but it never lasts.

Re: Is your baby STTN?

  • Yes. He eats 5oz formula every 3 hours or so, with half a jar of baby food twice a day (half at lunch, the other half at dinner). He'll be 5 months in 6 days.

  • Nope, but I am thrilled that we seem to be down to 2 night wakings. The past few nights have been magical since that means I only need to wake up once (DH takes the first waking).

ETA: DS is EBF & recently de-swaddled.

  • She has been STTN since she was 10 weeks old.  She eats 4-5oz bottles 4-5 times during the day and 5-6oz right before bed.  She usually sleeps 9-10pm until 6-7am.
  • My DS is 3 1/2 months old and will sleep about 6-8 hours straight each night.  He generally goes down between 8-9pm, then I only have to get up once with him around 3-4am for a quick feeding/change, then he's back sleeping until I get him ready for the day around 6:30am.

He's eating about 5-6 ounces every three hours during the day, and about 4-5 ounces at the one nighttime feeding.

  • Ours is the same way. He had one night where he slept through the night and that was it! Some nights he'll skip a feeding, just depends. Everyone always asks me if he's STTN and I feel like I'm doing something wrong because he's not. But he's just on his own schedule, so we'll see!
  • For the last 5 weeks yes...then this weekend he started waking up again twice at night.  Maybe it's because he's going through a growth spurt?  I don't know but I pray he starts sleeping through the night again soon.  (He was sleeping from 8:30pm till 8am.)

    And he is EBF.

  • Yes, 10+ hours a night since she was 7 weeks old.  I EFF now but BFd and FFd until she was 3 months old.

She also sleeps on her belly, which I'm sure doesn't hurt!

  • Noooope.

He gave me a week where he STTN almost every night. But then the 4 month wakeful hit, and he's up 2-3 times a night. Oh, how I miss the days of his single 3 am wakeup!

    Oh, he's EBFed.

This exactly except she is 3 months old. Down to the oz and everything.?

  • My son is not quite 5 months, but he's been STTN since he was about 3 months.  He's only getting BM; breastfeeding at home, BM bottles at daycare.

At about 8 weeks, we kept him up until about 10 or 10:30 pm every night.  I'd nurse him and put him to bed by 10:30, he'd wake on his own around 2:30 and then I'd wake him at 5:30 am to eat.  Around 3 months, he stopped waking in the middle of the night and started getting tired/cranky earlier in the night.  Now on most nights, he gets tired by 8 pm and sleeps until I wake him at 5:30 am.

  • Both of my boys have been sleeping from 8pm to 7am for the last week or so (crossing my fingers this lasts). Before that they usually woke up at 4 or 5 for a "snack." I EBF so I don't know how much their really getting but when they take bottles of pumped milk they generally drink about 7 oz.

ETA: we loosely used 12 Hours Sleep by 12 Weeks Old by Suzy Giordano. It is NOT a CIO. Didn't follow everything completely bc we cheated a lot, but it helped for sure.

  • LO goes down at about 8:30pm and gets up at about 5-5:30am.. sometimes she'll get up at 3 and i'll do a quick feed, and she'll be asleep until about 6:30, or when i wake her to get ready to go off to daycare.  She eats 4 - 3oz bottles at daycare (7:30am to 5:30pm) and then another feeding of about 3 - 3.5 oz before she goes to bed.  She's about 15 pounds too, our 4 mth appt is coming up, i'm curious to see her exact weight because i think she needs to eat more - but she isn't crying for more and isn't on the tiny side. I'm glad because she's EBF and i usually only produce about 3-3.5 oz per pumping session! if she ate a lot more, we'd definitely have to supplement.

  • Evan is eating around 5-7 oz & he does STTN. Occasionally he will start to wake up in the middle of the night (around 4am) & i will feed him 3oz n then he falls asleep again. He's sleeping from 9-9:30pm-8am

  • For the most part, yes.  Sometimes he'll wake and just need comforting, but he hasn't eaten during the night for at least 5 weeks.

He eats 25-30oz during the day of formula.  We're trying to de-swaddle since he's been waking himself up by trying to wiggle his arms out...so this may affect his STTN!

  • Yes, Leighton STTN...she eats 5 bottles of 6 ozs, with about a tbsp of cereal in the morning and sometimes 2 tbsp of cereal at night, before her last bottle...and we have just started giving her a couple bites of a vegetable when we get her home from daycare
  • Yes and has been since about 2 months.  We normally bedshare so when she gets fussy I feed her, either of us really wake up.  If she is in her crib that night, she will start fussing around 4 or 5 am and we bring her into our bed for the rest of the night.  She falls asleep aroung 7-8 pm and is EBF.

  • Yes!! And i'm so freakin proud of her too! We've noticed she's been consistently STTN for the last couple of weeks. She eats about 4-5 oz every 3 hours throughout the day and we try to give her her bath and feeding around 10pm.
  • not consistently, but she has slept through the night.

She's EBF so I'm not sure how much she takes in during the day, but I pump for DH to feed her a bottle before bed and she takes anywhere from 3-4.5 oz

  • My DS has been STTN for about three weeks and he has always been a really good sleeper he only got up once a night before that since he was 6 weeks.  He is only a few days shy of 4 months now.  He eats 6 bottles a day 5-1/2 to 6oz at a time.
  • Yes.  She sleeps 9-10 hrs.  She eats 25-28 oz of formula a day.  No solids yet.

  • We seem to STTN every other night these days, up to 9 hours (granted he goes to bed between 5:30p and 7p based on naps, so that still has me up way early in the morning!). On the non-STTN nights I'm usually up for 2 feedings and up for the day by about 5:30...

I EBF bc DS won't take a bottle so I can't even figure out how much he is eating. I also sadly can't STTN myself when he does!!!

  • Yes. She is 4 months. She has sttn for the last two weeks. Prior to that she got up once around 3 to eat. She eats 6 oz. of formula before bed. Have you tried to give her more ounces?

  • Breckin has been sleeping through the night since 2 months old. She goes down at 8 and wakes up between 6-7. She eats every 2-3 hours during the day 4-5 ounces.
