4 months as was rec'd by our pedi, and as we had done with DD when she was a baby.
Some people wait, but the rec'd age range is 4-6 months. Even after cereal is introduced over 85% of babies calories and nutrients still come from breastmilk.
We will wait until at least 6mo and probably will not start with cereal - bananas or avocado instead.

We haven't started on solids yet, and I think we may skip cereal altogether. I don't want her first food to be that processed. At her 4 month appt, her doc recommended waiting until 6 months to start solids, I plan to wait that long, and will talk to him more about starting solids at the 6 month appt.
Pedi said we could start whenever we wanted at the 4 month appointment. A few days shy of 5 months we gave him oatmeal. We've only done it a handful of times, not an every night thing. We've also done bananas and avocado.
Our Pedi said 5 1/2 to 6 months. So I'll wait until then. She said to wait until he can sit up alone to make him easier to feed. Also he has been gaining really well so there is no hurry.
Our pedi had us begin at 4 mos, DS was not gaining enough weight. He still drinks milk the same amount of times per day, adding the solids has not reduced his consumption.
Started with oatmeal cereal and have since tried carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas and peaches.

My pedi said we'd discuss it at his 4 mo appointment. My plan is to wait until 6 months unless pedi convinces me to start earlier.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
We tried cereal once about a week ago. She LOVED it and was grabbing the spoon from me. She wanted to feed herself. Planning on asking pedi about doing some bananas a few times a week.
I wasn't going to start yet, but she had gone back to waking up two times a night to eat, so I thought last week I would try to give her some to fill her up. She wanted nothing to do with it. She didn't get the spoon, didn't swallow anything. She is not ready, which is fine. My pedi said since she's gaining fine we really don't have to do solids until we want to. She's said even up to 9 months.
I started at 5 1/2 months because I have always had a low supply at night and I was guaranteeing him a few more calories. It's worked well. I mix with formula, Good Start gentle, and he loves it.
