Re: SWMcFarlan...
Yup. Lily was crawling right around 6 months actual, and pulling up to stand at about 7 months actual. She started crusing furniture right around Christmas time (about 9 months actual) and started walking (although she is still shaky with it) around 12 months.
I wonder if they meant don't put them in an exersaucer/jumper/walker? I have heard that about premature babies, but I can't imagine why they would have issue with a 6 month old standing and putting weight on their legs.
Seems strange to me.
Intresting....
They did also say to limit the time in the exersaucer/bumboo chair too. I usually do any way. The PT at the hospital didn't think it was such a big deal but, EI seemed too. I was just curious what others experienced.
Thank for your response.
No problem. I wasn't a huge bumbo fan, it just seemed awkward. We didn't have an exersaucer but did have a jumper, and I'd say she probably used it for a grand total of 2 hours in all the months we had it.
I like the standing/walk around music tables. But that was Lily's preference.
I think you will find that everyone has a different opinion on what is right for your baby, but you know your baby best. Best example is the PT vs. EI. Everyone has different ideas on how to make it work. You just have to go with your gut and the doctors you feel comfortable. I saw you said you weren't comfortable in your EI visit--why? Did they indicate baby is behind in anything? Adjusted, your baby seems way ahead of the game for a 3ish month old...
I have noticed every one has a difrent opinion but, thankful my Pedi is very laid back which is kind of how i am too. I'm going to talk to her about it next week at our appointment.
I love the PT at the hospital he is so laid back and nice and LO loves him... During the EI they did say the thought he was 33% delayed in the cognetive area but, i'm not sure i agree. The reason that they said that was they said he followed faces not toys but, when they did this test there where two of them in the room and they were sitting across from each other talking as they did it and he kept looking at them not the toy. I think that was distracting. Also, the toys they used were really boaring. When i told the Pt at the hospital he tried and Lo did it for him. The other thing is they spent like 30 minutes going back and forth and what they should adjust him too. I thought they should know that it shouldn't be a big deal. They actually called like 3 people to ask. I'm going to give it a few more trys and see how it goes maybe it was just an off day. In NJ they actaully charge for them to come out based on your income and i don't mind paying if it's going to be somehting that's helpful but, if it's not i would rather find some one who will him him even if it's more money.
