I know we get tons of b-day questions on here, but one bugs me: Favors.
When did this become part of a b-day party?
I am boycotting the favors. I will be putting "no gifts" on the invite and the guests will be served food.
Is it just b/c the other kids get jealous of the b-day kid's new toys?
Re: When did favors start?
As a host, I always thought favors were a way of thanking your guests for taking time out of their schedule and coming to your party.
But, as a guest, I never expect anything.
I think favors are cute and a nice way to thank you guests for coming.
Did you give favors at your wedding? Was it because you thought your guests would be jealous of all your wedding gifts? hehe j/k
I think for a 1yo it isn't necessary, and I probably won't do it, but it really isn't done much around here for baby parties. If it were the norm, i probably would, too.

This exactly. Plus, I just have fun making things like that. But, I'm a nerd so....
Besides our wedding, I never did favors. I don't ever remember getting them at b-day parties either.
I just had a brilliant idea! I can give what we did at our wedding. I will make cds of DD's favorite songs and give wax lips! Those were our wedding favors and we still get compliments.
haha..totally.
This.
::whispers:: I agree with you. We won't be giving them.
Exactly what Trixie said in my opinion.
