Sleep ??

J has always been a champ at sleeping.  Always in his 10.5 months of life.  That is, until the past few weeks.  For example, last night went like this:

8:00--Bedtime, went to sleep with no problems
9:30--Sitting up crying in his bed, I picked him up and he went back to sleep
Fast forward to 12:30, sitting up crying again in his crib, DH went to soothe him...only for him to wake back up at 1:30 and again at 6 this a.m. (usually sleeps til 7).

This morning I gave him a cup and he went back to sleep, but I just don't know what more to do for him?  Maybe it's just a phase, but it's just so unlike him to wake up that much.  I did notice on the video that he wiggles and sits himself up before he's even awake, so I don't know what that's all about.

Oh, and we do not cry it out, or lay him down while he is still awake.  Just NMS of parenting.

  • I don't have any suggestions, but I hope it's just a phase for him :)

  • I'm thinking about getting the Baby Crack machine...hopefully they will have it at BBB this afternoon!
  • Could he be cutting new teeth?

Allie always does this for one of two reasons:

    1.  Teething/cutting new teeth

    2. Ear infection

    Allie ~ 01/26/09 ~ 7 lbs, 9 oz ~ 20.75 in. & Amelia ~ 03/16/11 ~ 8 lbs, 1 oz ~ 21 in.

    Ditto these!

Also, I'm convinced that sometimes Mason has nightmares too. Sometimes he'll cry out in his sleep and I'll go in to soothe him (change his diaper if it's wet, hold & rock him, whisper/sing, etc) and realize that he's still asleep.

Right now he's 14 months and probably about 3-5 nights each week he wakes up once during the night. BUT we're majorly teething (those nasty molars!).

  • Teeth and ears.  Should be my first 2 thoughts and I didn't even think of those! Mother of the Year, I tell ya.

    Thanks girls!

  • The reason my LO has been waking in the night recently is she is wetting outside her diaper. Time to go up a size at least at night!
