As far as I know, i'm not having a shower. A lot of my friends keep telling me that I need to at least have a girls night or even a brunch, but I just feel so blah about it. I don't really want diapers because I can just get a huge box of them at sam's club... and I don't need anything else... but if they want to cook for me after I have the baby, well, that would be something that i'm interested in!
This is my third child (my other two are older), but this is my husbands first child.
MIL was very disappointed when I told her I didn't want a shower, she said... "this isn't only your child!". hahaha But, I told her I didn't feel like we needed one since we could afford it and I still had some items I had saved.
But I agreed to have a "Welcome baby" party after he's born, so she's pretty excited about that. Maybe you could do that?
I'm not and I'm pretty bummed about it (this is our first LO)
My parents "couldn't be bothered" with it (yes this is a direct quote....due to other issues DH & I have decided that my parents will not have any contact with us or our child from now on)
DHs parents don't really see the need (but that is more of a cultural thing so I understand)
My friends in CA tried to organize one for me but I had to spend the $$ I had for a plane ticket there to go see my grandmother last week when she was in the hospital.
My friends in TX have not mentioned it or even asked where we are registered. I was kinda hoping for a small suprise one when I went home last week...but no go. Still love them but I am a little hurt!
I know absolutely no one in Chicago where we live now.
Its my 2nd and I didn't expect it. We didn't need much and in our family the only reason to have another shower would be if your stuff was outdated. My sisters had one for their 2nd and 3rd, but there was an age gap of 7 years for one and my other sister had an age gap of 5 years so they needed stuff.
First time mom here, no shower for me. I was thinking there would be some more first time moms in the same boat, but I guess we're few and far between.
Most my friends are men since I work in a male-dominated profession. The women friends and family members I have all live in other states. There have been a couple of half-hearted offers to throw me a shower, but even if I did have one, I can only think of 3 women I could invite who are local. There was talk that my MIL was going to put one together where she lives with all of DH's family, and do a webcam thing or something, but there's been a lot on her plate lately, so I'm pretty sure that will fall through.

We're not having one... not a normal one at least. It's our first, but we live thousands of miles from everyone, so it's impossible other than something simple via online. We might get one from work here, but I haven't heard of any plans for it yet. I think we'll get a real one when we move home next summer when baby will be a year old.

I'm not having one. However, my mom and sisters have bought stuff for the baby and if I did have a shower it would only be my mom and sister there haha
Re: trying this again..anyone else not having a shower?

Are you sure you're not having a shower, or perhaps they could be waiting for DC to arrive?
