3rd Trimester

Elders..(TMI)

Hi Ladies... This may be TMI, but I thought I would ask anyway! The last couple days I have had slight diarrhea, and now I am noticing that I am constantly nauseous! I have been told that these are signs of labor but was curious if there are any Elders out there that have been experiencing this as well?  I have also noticed that today I seem to be having contractions and overall feel super crampy even in my back! (Last Dr. appointment was last Thursday and I was 2cm 80% effaced, not sure if this has anything to do with it but thought I would throw that in too) Anyone else? Any ideas what I should do? Is this something that I need to call my OB for?

  • It could be, it couldn't be..ah the joys of pregnancy!  I wouldn't call your OB though.  I've had diarrhea here and there but definitely had a case of pukies (I actually vomited this morning and once last night!)  I would just keep an eye on things, but unfortunately there's no sure way to tell..unless your water breaks or something! lol

  • Gee, I feel like nothing is predictable here at the end.  Everyone seems to have different symptoms before labor, but it all just gets my hopes up.  My gut has been a mess, alternating between constipation and diarrhea.  Same with the appetite....either I'm ravenous or nauseous, but no in between.   I wouldn't call the Dr. unless you were having trouble keeping fluids down/in, or you have more definitive labor signs.

  • I too have been experiencing stomach issues (nausea & diarrhea) the last few weeks.  I mentioned this to my doctor last week and she said it could be from the weight of the baby on the intestines and everything being cramped.  It does make the last few weeks go slow!  I would just mention it to your OB at your weekly apt.

  • OK! Thank you ladies! Oh the joys of pregnancy :)
