Middle name for Kaleb

So my DH and I have finally decided on Kaleb for a boy!
But we can't decide on a middle name.
Either

Kaleb Neil (Neil after my DH and his dad)

OR

Kaleb James (James after my dad who passed away with lung and brain cancer 7 years ago)

Thanks ladies :)

  • I prefer James.  Have you considered using the more common spelling Caleb?  Kaleb may be frequently misspelled.
  • I prefer Kaleb Neil, though I do like the association with Kaleb James, which is a great name as well. And I also agree with the pp, what about Caleb?

No, I like it spelled differently. My name is Melyssa (not spelled like Melissa as it usually is) People misspell my name but I don't mind correcting them :)

I like having my name a little more unique then the other Melissa's :)

  • I like James, but I find the Kaleb spelling to be horrific. I just don't understand misspelling your kid's name, it doesn't make it different, it makes it misspelled. Caleb is such a nice name as is.

Well that's your opinion. I happen to LOVE it spelled like that!
I don't think you calling my choice of name horrific is fair, but you're allowed to have your own opinion. Even if it means being a ***! I just think that's uncalled for.

I was asking for help with my middle name!
    thanks anyway though!

  • Kaleb with a K looks sooooo harsh and kind of... wrong/weird.  It actually looks ugly.  Why not Caleb?

If you want a unique name, pick something less common.  Don't change a perfectly good name into something that kind of looks like you mashed some keys on the keyboard.

Haha-calling the spelling "horrific" is not being an @ss. This is a message board where people give their opinion. Deal with it.

    I pick James. Caleb James.

  • I love how people just decide that something is a "misspelling."

Kaleb is an very old spelling of that name. There was a 6th century king of Ethiopia by that name. In Greek, the Bible character would be Kaleb. Caleb is a Latinised/Anglicized version.

  • PS: I like Kaleb James.

I personally like Kaleb James. But, both sound very nice.

About the misspelled name (haha) I like it. It is unique. My name is Tonia. I am the only person I know that is not spelled with a Y.

OF COURSE people are going by the Anglicized version. We speak English. If we went by Greek or 6th c. Ethiopian spellings, our language--names and all-- would have zero resemblance to its current form.
