We are wanting to try a paci around 2.5 or 3 weeks or so...Is this a good time to try one before it's "too late" for her to take one? We are trying the bottle on Friday when she'll be two weeks and 3 days...Might try the paci the Tuesday after that, when she'll be 3 weeks. Do both of those seem like okay times? Don't want her to have the whole nipple confusion thing going on as she is a good latcher right now but I do think that she would enjoy a paci as she likes to suck... a lot! When did you try a paci with your new baby????
Thanks girls!
Re: When did you try a paci with your new baby?
In the hospital for both kiddos. Then started the bottle and around 6 days for DD (latching issues so I ad to pump) and 1.5 wks for DS. I would maybe try them sooner rather than later. Don't overthink the "nipple confusion" thing. It's a valid concern, but in the end some kids are just more into the bottle/boob/whatever than others and it doesn't necessarily have to do with the timing when things were introduced.GL!

We gave Harper a paci in the L&D room.....
We used a paci the 2nd night in the hospital. DD liked sucking on my finger so I just gave her a paci instead. She had no nipple confusion and learned to BF just fine.
We started giving a bottle at 2 weeks old. We used Breastflow and she went from breast to bottle with no problems at all.
Same with us. We waited between 3-4 weeks for both a bottle and a paci. Actually, paci may have been slightly earlier, but we held off and I used my pinky finger as slong as I could. Still, Eliana doesn't love a paci. And, she happens to be on a bottle strike right now. Not loving either one so much. She loves her mom!!
