TTC After a Loss

Nutrition Tracking

Anyone use a website to track your caloric intake, exercise, etc. that can recommend one?  I've seen a few, but am hoping someone might have a recommendation.

2 m/cs + 6 months = 15 extra pounds that I need to get back off.....help!

Re: Nutrition Tracking

  • I use www.thedailyplate.com. Fitday.com is another, but I find the Daily Plate more use-friendly.
  • Loading the player...
  • www.myfitnesspal.com is awesome
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I feel ya. Same story, same 15 pounds.

If you have an iPhone I really like "lose it" just because my phone is never more than 3 feet from me so I never forget to add 'just that one little smidgen of a brownie' stuff that was my downfall!

I've also heard really good things about thedailyplate.com

  • I've used two in the past.  Here are my opinions on them:

    The Daily Plate:

    Plusses:

    It's free

It allows you to be "friends" with other people, which can be helpful if you're looking for support

The Livestrong Loops feature is nice, as it allows you to map your walks/jogs/bike rides

    Negatives:

It can be really finnicky to actually use.  Half the time it can't find the food you're logging, even simple things like "strawberries."

You have to pay in order to get feedback on the nutritional value of your food.  I mean, you get some feedback, in that it lists the sodium and such, but you don't get the nice charts and graphs and such you get with My Food Diary.

    My Food Diary:

    Plusses:

I actually lost 20lbs using this.  Seriously.

It's incredibly easy to use and they have almost everything.

There's a message board/chat room feature that can be very inspirational.

They allow you to store the items you eat most often in a virtual "refridgerator" which is handy for logging in.  You can also build recipes and log that in very easily.  I believe The Daily Plate has a similar feature, but it's frustrating to use, IMO.

It gives you a smiley/frowny face for meeting your goals.  I think you can earn a maximum of 12 or so smiley's per day for things like eating less sodium, more potassium, etc...It sounds stupid but I really HATED getting frownies.

    Negatives:

    It costs $9/mo.

I've been using The Daily Plate for 6 months and I just don't like it.  I'm actually considering switching back to My Food Diary soon, despite the fact that you have to pay.
