Oh my gosh, Saturday may have been the longest morning of my life! When we got into town, around noon, we stopped at the SMC store to pick up a graduation gift for my sister and when I walked by the baby stuff I almost started crying!
Then we proceeded to go out for lunch, thanks to my DH for the suggestion! After lunch we went over to ND. We parked in the bookstore lot and there was bookstore basketball going on and a rugby game, so of course my DH wanted to stop and watch. All I wanted to say was, "Can we please just go over to the grotto?!?!" After that we started to SLLLOOOOWWLLLYY make our way towards the grotto. Of course the Fisher Regatta was going on, which is a student run boat race in the lake, my DH wanted to go watch. I was seriously dying at this point because I could see the grotto! Naturally as we were going to be heading to the grotto a wedding party was taking pictures so we waited until they left.
Then we FINALLY made it to the grotto, I would say it was around 3:30, lit a candle, said some prayers. Then I said let's go sit on a bench for a minute. I handed him the card and on the inside it said "We're Having a Baby....EDD: December 25th"
My DH smiled and said "Really? Wow! (This was all with a big smile on his face, not a I'm in complete shock reaction)" I was pretty much bawling at this point! I think it was finally the relief of not having to keep this to myself anymore! He said he figured something was up because the past few days I stopped talking about my temps and how I was feeling. I cannot believe he never called me out on it!
The rest of the day all I found myself doing was talking about everything that I had been feeling for the past week, filling him in on how far along we were, what to expect, etc...it still is a bit of a dream but now that we both are on the same page it's becoming more and more real!
I brought our little camera tripod, set it up and took a picture of us at the grotto with the card!
Awwww, cute! I also admire your patience and ability to wait. I love that you told him at the grotto, and the card you made is so cute. You'll have to put it in baby's book.
What an amazing way to tell your husband! Did he propose to you there?
He actually proposed in my apartment when I lived downtown Chicago. I am a big sap and probably would have wanted a proposal somewhere like the grotto so this was the next best thing!
Re: dc120807 - sooo...how did it go?
:::butting in:::
I was wondering this too! I thought of you over the weekend!
Thanks for asking!

Here are pictures of the card: I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the pictures because they look funny!
