First, thanks to everyone on this board for being so welcoming, and answering any questions I have had in the last few months. ?
We have decided to pursue a public domestic adoption, and have completed our first set of paperwork. ?I am dropping it off tomorrow, and they will match us to a SW (which can be a few weeks to a couple months). ?The earliest we could do any PRIDE or SAFE programs with them would be the fall, so we'll see how things progress from here.
Despite being warned about long wait times, it sounds like there is quite a bit of positive networking among Canadian CAS's, so if there aren't matches for us in our region, they will consider us for matches in other parts of the province depending on what comes up. ?
If we find we aren't getting anywhere within the public system we will later adjust our plan to explore domestic private. ?But hopefully we will find a match before then. ?
?
That's it for now. ??
Re: we have a plan & paperwork complete
Good luck! I'm in Canada as well, although hearing your circumstances makes me think that we aren't in the same province. But feel free to pm me if you have any questions, we are doing a domestic adoption as well, although we are doing the private route.
Fingers crossed!
