Warming up cows milk - is microwave still a no-no?

I know its still a bit early for that, but thought I'd ask anyway...

  • I'd venture to say yes, still not a good idea ... I think any liquid you heat in the micro can get hot spots and could hurt your LO.

  • We've always microwaved her stuff.  But she liked it extremely warm.

And I micro cows milk for nighttime and first thing in the morning.  Otherwise, it is all sippy cup and cold.

This. Plus I read that chemicals from the plastic can find their way into the milk.

Only if the plastic has BPA would that be harmful - most people use BPA free bottles at this point.

I use the micro for food - we don't do bottles.  I think it's fine as long as you're shaking it and testing it really well.

The article I read (I think it was in Parenting or something) said that BPA was just the most well known but that other plastics can do the same. I'm not going to risk it. My bottle warmer is just as fast and super easy to use.

  • You could micorwave it in something other then the bottle, like a ceramic mug or glass measuring cup then stir it to make sure it's evenly heated before putting it in a bottle? The no-microwaving for formula and breast milk was also because the microwave wrecks all the helpful elements and antibodies etc in breast milk/formula.
