First attempt at the crockpot

So i put some chicken and soup in the crockpot this morning and left for work.  Now I am going crazy thinking that my house is going to burn down (yes I am neurotic).  I used thin sliced chicken and am now thinking I should have used regular breasts.  I am hoping to come home tonight and have a decent dinner.  If not, it is hot dogs and burgers on the grill.

Re: First attempt at the crockpot

  • I am the same way. I can only do it if I am at home.
  • Loading the player...
  • I used mine for the first time yesterday! It was so easy and hard to believe I've left it in the box since Christmas...

When we left the house I just switched the setting to low to keep my mind at ease!

    Enjoy your dinner tonight ;)

  • I bet it will be great! (and the house will still be there when you get home, don't worry!)
  • I love my crock pot..

I  make country ribs ( just throw some country ribs and BBQ sauce in there set to low and walk away)..

    Corned beef, potatoes and cabbage

    Chicken wings, thighs

    Baked cinnamon apples

    Love it!

These all sound good!  Do you ladies have recipes to share? I also worry about my house burning down (crockpot, flat iron, etc).

  • Honestly.. For the chicken and ribs.

I just buy a package of Boneless ribs, chicken wings .. add to crock pot, put in your fav BBQ sauce. I use almost half bottle if not full. ( depending on the size of crockpot) and turn on low.

I have done pork chops with a can of mushroom soup and water..

    Cinnamon Apples

    Ingredients

    Directions

    1. 1Put all ingredients EXCEPT BUTTER into crock pot; stir well, coating all apple slices, and place slices of butter on top.
    2. 2Cook on HIGH for 1-1/2 to 2 hours OR cook on LOW 3-1/2 to 4 hours, stirring once half way through.
    3. 3Serve and enjoy!

  • You will get hooked.  I use the crockpot at least once a week for meals.  I'm thinking about getting another.  It is so easy and everything come out so tender.
  • THANKS!!!!
