Postpartum Depression

Struggling with scary thoughts? My story.

If you're struggling with scary/intrusive thoughts, it can feel like you're alone. You're not.

Many of the posts on this board are about feeling depressed or anxious, but intrusive thoughts are very common during the postpartum period (even for those who don't suffer from PPD or PPA).

I started a blog (link in siggy) about my diagnosis with PPOCD and treatment journey. I hope it helps make you feel less alone if you're dealing with scary thoughts as well.

Peace to all of you.

  • I struggle with those thoughts a lot - I'm getting better at keeping them in check, but it's scary.

Same here. I just had my meds uped again and I am praying it does the trick.

Thank you so much for sharing. No one talks about these thoughts because they are so unwanted and so terrifying. Mine have subsided so much with zoloft and therapy, and I am sure yours will, too. Thank you, again, for being so brave to share this and for helping those of us who also suffer from scary thoughts feel not so alone.
  • thanks for sharing.  I have had intrusive thoughts for about 2 years (horrible horrible).  Meds and therapy helped, but I have been so worried about thoughts directed at my son creeping in.  They really haven't but of course it's always at the back of my mind.

Thankfully, I have enough coping skills to deal with this....

  • I have had PPOCD with both pregnancies. I had never even heard of it until diagnosed. Thank you for posting this.
