I am having major pain on the right side during and after feedings. My nipple is SO sore! It's not red or cracked. There's a small white spot on it and they are very dry. DD doesn't have any white patches in her mouth, so it doesn;t look like thrush. What's going on? SHe latches on perfectly on the left. I can use both hands to go online, use the remote, etc. I have to hold onto her and my boob the entire time she's on the right or I'm in even worse pain. Do you think I'm just not having her latch on properly? The right side is the side that produces more, so she's usually on there a long time. The last feed I tooker her off after ten minutes because I could deal with the pain anymore. Any thoughts?
Re: Pain on the right side only?
from my own experience and mom's group, it seems common that one side would hurt and another side wouldn't. I was also having issues with my right breast- bleeding nipple and letdown pain...etc. My left nipple is completely fine. All I can tell you is that the lansinoh ointment helped me a lot.
It is also possible for infant to not show signs of thrush if you have thrush.
the white spot could be a blister
