How are you picking your LO bottles? We went and registered today and were utterly confused by the bottle section.

Are you just getting few of each in the smaller sizes to see what they like?

Dr Bown's bottles are great. They do have lots of parts but, all you have to do is get a little basket and put them through the dishwasher.

I got bottles that are bpa free and compatible with breastfeeding. They are 4oz bottles and the liner that goes inside can store breastmilk in the freezer.

The only bottles we ever purchased & used for DS were the Playtex Drop-ins. They were absolutely awesome (little cleaning required, BPA free). I would definitely recommend them!

I would get maybe one or two brands, and only a couple of each. Your LO might not like one kind of nipple/bottle. I used the Medela ones that went with my pump, and the Playtex Air Advance. My DD would not use the Playtex drop-ins.

I used vent-air bottles with DD but they were not BPA free so I threw them all away when the warnings about BPA came out. This time I will probably go with the drop ins. My sister uses the doctor Brown's glass bottles. I don't like all the pieces and I don't really want glass bottles, plus I don't think I'd ever really feel like the long tube is clean.

I swear by Dr. Brown's bottles. I won't even be trying any other bottles. I went through the trial and error with my 1st son and Dr. Brown's wins, hands down.

I went with what most of my friends and sister said which were the Dr. Browns. DD was terribly sick so along with having to stop breast feeding (well exclusively pumping, as she never latched), I also switched bottles. We ended up using the playtex drop-ins. I suggest keeping an open mind. Have a few of one kind and if they don't "work", go from there.

I called my Daycare and asked them which bottles they tend to see most often and have the most success with. Playtex Drop Ins, Playtex Ventair and Born Free were by far the most popluar.

We let DS decide... he picked Avent. He refused Dr. Brown's and Medela. Will do the same with DD. We are getting the smaller bottles and plan to try them in this order: Avent, Tommee Tippee, Dr. Brown's, and Born Free.

I'm going with the MilkBank system by DexBaby. Easy to clean, triple-vented, insulated, leak-proof(!), and BPA-free. That said, LO could hate it. Next on my list are Born Free and Dr. Brown's.

With DS1 we used the Playtex Vent Air. I didn't like all the parts to clean, and the nipples and vents would get greasy after a while (we'd soak them in a water/bleach solution and it'd fix it). He never had a problem with them so we never switched.

With DS2 we used some Avent ones and cheap ones from Target, the Circo brand. Both were fine for him. I think with him we could have given him any bottle and he would have been fine, not so picky! I personally didn't like the circo ones because the nipples would collapse since there was no air escape built in.

This time around I plan to BF but I think we'll use Avent for non-me feedings unless baby lets us know otherwise!

I used avent bottles with DS and will use the same ones with new nipples for # 2. They worked fine and DS had no issues, so I am hoping they will work fine this time around too.

We also did the Playtex Drop Ins and LOVED them, however the expense of buying the drop in liners did get old, but we didn't have a lot of BPA free options at that point. It was when the issues with BPA first became apparent and it took a while for all the brands to make BPA free bottles. He only liked 2 brands the Avent and the Drop Ins but the Avent weren't BPA free. This time we'll try the Avent first and if those don't work we'll go straight back to Drop Ins!

Playtex drop-ins but we used Target brand liners..a lot cheaper. We also recycled [not reused-but cleaned out and put in the recycling bin] the liners when we were done. All of ours came with nasty latex nipples so we bought new silicone ones that worked much better.

it's super confusing on how to know what bottles to get.

i ordered some bottles online that were supposed to be cutting edge for breast feeders (can't remember the brand) but DS wouldn't take them. i dug a random Gerber bottle out of the closet that was a baby shower prize or something. he liked it and they're way cheaper than others and aren't 'fancy' w/lots of parts. no probs w/gas either.

we had dr. browns, but HATED cleaning them! so many friggin parts and they were always gross, no matter how much we hand cleaned AND dishwashed them.

my friend who's on her second has born free and says they're much friendlier, in terms of cleaning.

Same here. I went to a bfing class when I was pg with DD and the lactation consultant recommended drop ins with a slow flow nipple for breast fed babies. That's the only bottle we ever tried and I never had any reason to try anything else. They worked great for us.

We just bought 1 or 2 of a few different brands. We started out with Born Free, Avent, Dr. Browns and Green to Grow. DD ended up taking any bottle (though we mostly breastfed for the first 3 months, but I'd occasionally pump & let DH feed her). The only one we didn't use much were the Dr. Browns because they (oddly enough) were the worst for her gas, but I know they work really well for other babies. She's never had a preference, we've used a few more different brands as she's gotten older, I just kept rotating

We bought a couple smaller bottles until we found the Dr. Browns, and DS took to them IMMEDIATELY... Plus they helped his GERD TREMENDOUSLY!

This time, we're buying Tommee Tippee's (supposed to have the same venting system for sensitive tummies as the Dr. Browns, but with fewer parts), Dr. Brown's, or Born Free, if we need them. If not, we're going with the Medela bottles or another brand that will fit my Medela breastpump.

We mainly used the Medela bottles that came with the pump (plus a bunch of extras borrowed from a friend who bought but ended up not using them). We used regular Playtex nipples with them and had no issues. We had an Avent bottle (free promo), but DD didn't take well to the nipple.

Once she got a little older and needed bigger bottles, we bought some 8 oz. Playtex bottles with fast flow nipples. They were BPA free, inexpensive, and she did fine with them. We'll use the same with #2, just buy new nipples.

We tried a few different types- Dr. Browns, Born Free and Playtex drop-ins. My son preferred the drop-ins, so that's what his day care ended up using.

We used VentAire with Molly but returned them all to TRU when they did the BPA bottle exchange. We picked up a few boxes of Drop-Ins to use this time around - they've been sitting in our cupboard for almost 2 years......I can't wait to finally get to open and use them!

The Playtex drop ins are awesome. There are no small parts to wash and you can buy less of them since they use a liner and just get extra nipples.

Playtex drop ins. VERY Easy to clean, GREAT for gas, colic, fussy baby. Also BPA free. We tried the notorious Dr. Browns and it was a mess. Expensive, So many different parts to clean and its not even worth it. Playtex drop ins are so much better for gas and colic because you can literally push every single bubble of air out until its just liquid.

At the end of the day though, you may have try a couple- because your baby may not take to the bottle YOU like.

We're using Avent. At first we had the harder plastic (it's yellowish in color because of no BPA). They would frequently leak if you didn't screw the lid on just right. When I got the bigger size, I went with the milky white ones (a softer plastic. also BPA free). These have an extra ring that goes on top and they have much fewer to no leaking problems. Very minimal on the parts (3 for the yellowish and four for the milky white). Also we've started the sippy cup, and Avent has a whole system where you can add handles and switch out nipples for sippy cup nipples. Very, very happy with them.

We used these and they have a lot of parts, but I liked how they mimic the actions needed for nursing. DD needed to clamp down and suck, not just let the milk fall into her mouth. We got the slow flow.
