I was sooo under the impression that it was a very rare occurance for women to spot in early pregnancy. Now, I see many women posting about it. I, myself, have had a terrible weekend dealing with the spotting, and I see many say it's actually very normal. What is the deal? I'm not sure I can handle a whole trimester of stressing about this.

I can't be the only one...

Re: Does everyone spot?
He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be. He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
I never spotted during my first pregnancy. This pregnancy I have spotted alot, and my stress levels have been through the roof with it, no matter how 'common' the doctors tell me it is. I've become quite the TP checker. Mine has since eased, but my heart goes to out to all that are still going through it.
so sorry about the spotting... i can't even imagine how nerve recking that must be. i've never had spotting in any of my pregnancies, and i hope i don't with this one either. lots of luck to you!!!
Not everyone spots but those that do are attributed to numerous things. For me, mine was dark brown and caused from an irritated cervix. I was taking Prometrium vaginally and it irritates the cervix. All in all, it just really depends on the situation but spotting is not normal and you should always notify your doctor.
I have spotted with two pregnancies. Unfortunately, the first one led to a miscarriage. The second one was attributed to a hemorrhage and I was even informed by my doctor to expect it.
The thing about spotting is that there is no right answer as to whether it is normal or not. If you are spotting, the best thing to do would be call your doctor. That is what they are there for and why you are paying them. Trust me, I have put in a couple of calls to mine during this pregnancy just to have her tell me to stop being such a worry wart. It gave me peace of mind and so far she has been right on the money.
I did in my first two pregnancies. The first ended with a missed miscarriage at 10.5 weeks. The second had BLEEDING - major major bleeding. That was a subchorionic hematoma which in most pregnancies is scary but harmless. This pregnancy I thankfully have been spot free. But with my miscarriage history I am still not relaxed about the outcome. Only time will tell!
I'm sorry you are spotting. The way it has been described to me is that while spotting is never NORMAL it is quite COMMON. Does that make sense?
You are very early so it might just be implantation. I didn't even know I was pregnant at 4w1d with this pregnancy or my last.
I think it comes down to this: Spotting is not uncommon, but it is not normal either.
Be sure your doc is aware of what is going on, but don't let yourself get too freaked either (I know that's hard).
FWIW, I have had four losses and never spotted with any of them. There just is no "way it is" for everyone. In pregnancy, every case is unique.
Good luck and I hope all will be well with your LO.
Hello,
I haven't had any spotting this pregnancy but plenty of cramping. Every time I went to the bathroom I thought for sure I would see blood. But thankfully no. I did have spotting during my last pregnancy at 9 weeks. Have you called the dr. yet with your concerns? Maybe they can get you in for an ultrasound. Good luck!

I have been spotting for 6 weeks. My U/S showed that it was due to a hemorrhage that had healed itself. My spotting was always brown and my doctor told me she wasn't worried about it at all.
Knock on wood...it seems to have stopped as of this weekend.
i totally know what you mean. it is scary but it's also completely normal. my best friend had an actual period and thought she was only a about 6-7 weeks pg when she found out she was but she was actually 16 weeks! every one's body is different and responds differently. i have been spotting every day and it is nerve wracking but for the most part nothing to worry about at all! (but i feel the same way you do...i don't want to stress about it the whole time!) if it gets worse or you have cramping/pain call your dr for a check up. good luck and try not to stress too much (i know that is way easier said than done!!)
I am going through spotting.
I should be about 5 weeks today and this past Monday I had a slight bit of red blood in the evening, then pink streaks on Wednesday and then Friday morning after being "romantic" as my OB called it I had red blood again. Thankfully I was able to reschedule my OB appt from Monday and I went in right away. He drew my blood for a Hgc level and I'm getting another drawn in the am to compare the levels. He did an internal and told me he saw no signs of anything negative going on but did see some slight brown blood.
Thankfully the bleeding has stopped but I go to the restroom all day long checking the TP. My heart races all day. We are so excited for this little one I'm so paranoid about the bleeding.
We've been told not to be romantic till he makes sure all is ok. Hope I'll have news on Tuesday.
My nurse at my RE's (fertility OB/GYN) says 50% of their patients spot during 1st trimester. It can range from pink to brown and is (mostly) the result of the baby establishing bood flow from you. Some seeps out. Of course if it is a constant flow or at all concerning to you, get it checked out. I have heard the IVF patients do spot a bit more, but I'm guessing that if incidence if 50%, then normal pregnancy incidence is up there.
Mine is light enough that it only shows up on toilet paper when I wipe. It doesn't even show in my underwear, but, I can tell you, I don't like it! Of course, I've got two in there, so I might have a bit more blood 'seeping' out of newly established blood vessels.
Good luck!
