I just froze my excess milk for the first month of DD's life.
867 ounces.....
ummmm....
I am an exclusive pumper. I started out pumping every 2 hours the first 2 weeks per my LC's suggestion. Now I pump every 4 or 5 hours and am still getting around 12 ounces per pump.
Today I got engorged when I took a nap... but that usually isn't a problem... I think it is because Harper was cuddled on my chest and my body went into overdrive. 4 hours passed and I pumped 15 ounces...![]()
I am ok to pump and freeze this much.. I just don't know if it is adviseable.
In my perfect world, I would be able to feed her until month 9 and then transfer her to frozen milk... work is a pain to pump.. but want to do what is best for her.
Sorry for the ramble... but I'd love some feedback.... WWYD?
Re: Should I try to reduce my supply?
Can I just say that I'm insanely jealous?!?!
I had a great supply until I went back to work. Will you be going back to work? You may find that your supply will naturally drop some then.
Are you storing your freezer stash in a deep freeze or your regular freezer? Make sure that it doesn't expire. It's good 3-4 months in the regular freezer and 6-12 months (depending on what source you use) in the deep freeze.
I hope some EP'ers pitch in with advice as I only pump at work.
This!
