Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Where do you put LO when you shower?

I had been putting him in the bouncy seat right outside of the tiny bathroom with the door opened, but he is just about too big for it, and despite being buckled in... he tries to get out.

I am considering the Jumperoo or Exersaucer, also right outside the bathroom door, but I am not in love with the idea.

Waiting until he naps is not always practical, or else I would do that. I've tried getting up before him in the morning, but it seems that whenever I do that, he gets up early.. haha.

  • Usually my husband takes him or I wait till he's napping. I'm not really a big fan of leaving him to play by himself while I shower- I've done it just once and he was OK but I like my showers to be relaxing- I don't want to have to jump out with soap in my hair if he gets upset.
  • DS is in his exersaucer in the bathroom with me.  I have a doorway jumper thingy but he HATES it!  :)

  • Exersaucer in the bathroom.

  • If DD is awake when I need to shower, then I put in Baby Einstein in my room and she watches it safely from her bouncy chair.  Keeps her perfectly calm while I can have a relaxing shower.  I shower in our ensuite so I am literally 10 steps away from her.

I'm not a huge advocate of children watching TV, but I figure her watching this for maybe 15 minutes a few times a week, is not going to harm her.  And she's learning at the same time.

  • I use the shower in his bathroom, put a gate in the doorway, close the bedroom door, and let him play in the room. We've baby-proofed the hell out of his room, so it's pretty much just him, the furniture, and some toys. Most days he just stands at the gate talking to me, or plays with his baby scale that sits outside the door (he likes to push the button so it makes music).

  • I shower at night after I put DS to bed.  In the morning I get ready before he gets or I place him in the PNP in our bedroom.
  • If I have to take a shower and he's awake I put him in his high chair with some toys and put him right outside the room with the door open so he can see me.

Usually I will just shower when he naps or after he goes down for the night.

  • I shower at night after she falls asleep or when DH is around to watch her.
  • 95% of the time, I shower while he takes his morning nap. If he wakes up earlier than that, I bring him in the shower with me. He sits on the tub floor and plays with his bath toys. I have put him in his P&P with toys but he's not a big fan of playing by himself unless he can see me, so he usually gets upset then I have to cut my shower short.

  • i usually do it when he takes his morning nap. if that doesn't happen then i put his walker in the bathroom- there's nowhere to walk and he just watches me the whole time anyway.

If my dh isn't home, ds showers with me. He has a little tub that he splashes around in.

  • DH is usually home when I shower, but if not I put him in his crib with some toys.  I used to do the bouncer but he grew out of that around 5-6m.

  • He used to play peek a boo and just stand next to the tub and yell at me/play, but he recently learned how to climb into the tub so now he showers with me. He sits on the floor and plays in the water most of the time, and he loves it!

  • On a blanket right in front of the bathroom door with some toys or under the playmat. When she gets mobile I'll use the PNP outside the bathroom door.

We have a really big hallway. Such a waste of space....

  • Usually she showers with me. We have a non-slip mat in our tub, I set her down on it with her toys and she loves it.

On the times I want my own shower I either take one when DH is home and he can keep an eye on her, or take one after she goes to bed at night.
