so our warranty is finally being honored by Mattress Giant (about time!) and we get a new mattress. We're going to upgrade to a king size (whoo hoo!) and that means our huge queen bedframe must go. (again with the whoo hoos, it's something Davez picked out years ago, NMS)
Our master BR is shamefully huge. We need something BIG to go around that bed, or it's gonna look funny. I don't really want to invest in a $1K bedframe right now, so I am going back to that "make a fabric-covered headboard" idea again.
Here's my issue - the bed itself will just be on a regular metal plain frame hidden by a (non-pleated) dust ruffle and bedspread of some sort. Then the fabric headboard mounted on the wall.
Is that gonna look funny? Don't I need side (wood?) rails and some type of footboard? or this is ok for a few months, until I get motivated and find money to buy a proper bedframe?
thanks.
Re: Help me with my bed...
If you wanted some sort of a wood look, you could always put a 2x4 wood trim around the quilted part to frame it. It would be pretty easy all you would have to do is build it and stain it whatever color you like, and then tack your quilted part onto it so you see wood all around the edges.
Make sense?

yeh, that makes sense. But I'm wondering about not having a frame/wood around the parameter of the bed... I think most hotels do this - just a headboard and nothing on the sides or feet.
I think it'll be fine. I'm just being weird.
lol.
I have no advice since I read the title of your post "Help me into my bed." I thought maybe you were laying on the floor and needed a hand so I was coming in to help. Lol!
Obviously I need to get some more sleep here...or an eye exam.

lol. I read some things in a REALLY weird way, too sometimes.
As long as the blankets are long enough to cover the rail, you may not even need the dust ruffle.
I'm not a huge fan of dust ruffles, but we used to do this with our queen sized bed right after college when we couldn't really afford to buy a frame, we just bought BIG blankets to cover it.
