High-Risk Pregnancy

Yet another GD question...sorry :(

So my numbers after one hour are supposed to be under 140. I usually do really well (except for yesterday). Tonight DH and I went out for dinner and I had a really yummy southwest chicken salad. When I checked myself later, I was only a 94 (which is crazy since I can't even get my fasting #'s that low!) I guess my question is if 94 is too low, like I should be worried? Should I eat something else when my numbers are that low? I meet with the high risk ob on Wed. and will ask him then, but any thoughts before then are appreciated. TIA!!!

  • nope 94 is fine.  Too low would be something around 60.  I'm also testing after one hour and often times my number is right around 100 these days because my sugars have been so hard to control and I've had to cut back on a lot of carbs.

  • 94 is good! The only thing I would suggest is that on days when your sugar is on the lower side like that to check it again at two hours post-meal if you have enough strips.Blood sugar tends to be lower at 2 hours so you might be more likely to get a low.

  • I've had a couple of low numbers like that after a low carb meal like a salad.  Glad you got such good results after a yummy meal!  I usually enjoy a snack shortly after testing if my numbers are low like that.

  • I agree - great number.  My Doc only wants me to eat a carb if I am 70 or below.  The only thing I thought I might add is that you may want to make sure you got all your carbs in.  If you are suppose to get 60 carbs with diner make sure that you always get close to that, you and baby need the carbs.  I know that I have hit my numbers and still gotten a number in the 90s - it is so gratifying.  I also agree that it is strange when you get better meal numbers then fasting numbers.  Good Luck.
