I love hanging out with DS but I feel like I suck at "playing" with him. I like to talk with him, hold him, sing with him etc. but we don't really "play" with things. I am always awkward with little kids when they want to pretend or whatever. What's also hard is DS is really good at just entertaining himself with toys so a lot of times he just plays by himself. That makes me feel bad. :::sigh::: I hope I get better at this!
Re: I suck at "playing"
Oh, try not to let this bother you. You're helping him develop his independent play. That's a skill you know? And an important one too! If it's a strong skill of his, you'll love it soon enough.
Some times when I'm playing with DD she gets "annoyed" and starts to cry, I leave her alone and she's happy again.
It takes many different kinds of parents to make the world go round.
