Used : swing, jumperoo, bouncer, bumbo, clothes, pack & play, carrier, we got a mattress from a friend otherwise probably wouldn't have gotten that used, stroller, most of the bigger plastic toys, activity tables, etc.
New- crib, mattress (though I got 2yr old one for my mom's house from a coworker), car seat, bottles, pacis, pump
Used- If it was offered to me or I found it at a yard sale/consignment shop and it was in good shape I'd use it! I've gotten some amazing things at yard sales for cheap!
My biggest used score? My cradle that came w/ the mattress, 2 crib sheets, bumper and 2 cool mobiles for a whopping 5.00! I also got an Evenflo exersaucer in awesome shape for 3.00!

I used all kinds of used boppys, I think we had 3 around the house.
Carseats I wouldn't buy off craig's list, but I would take from a friend.
Ours are all hand me downs.
I believe some of the best things to buy used due to their price and limited use are Pack N Plays, bassinettes, bouncey seats (buy used, get one for by the shower, one for the kitchen, etc.) Snap N Go, Swings.

Carseat, crib mattress, for sure. Crib itself, bath, breast pads, and coming home outfit were also things I wanted/bought new. I got a lot of used stuff from sales and ebay, but always liked to look at it first.
We will get a new carseat, crib and crib mattress I think.
I am borrowing a carseat to bring baby home from hospital (we live in Boston, with no car and are moving home to Toronto when baby is 6-8 weeks old). The carseat standards are different between Canada and the US and I need a Canadian carseat for when we are home.
My friend is giving me a pack and play and 2 umbrella strollers, and I think my cousin had a bunch of baby gear also.
I would probably buy everything else used (pack and play, bouncer, swing etc.) if I knew they were in good condition.
You can get your swing, bouncer, high chair all used (just make sure it's not old). The swing we bought was about 4 years old and we ended up buying a new one.
twin girls after 43 months of TTC..
Katherine Emily (5 lbs 12 oz 19 1/4 in) and Karly Elizabeth (5lbs 7 oz 19 in)
!!My bio!!!!My Blog!!
The items I would not get used are carseat (unless it was from someone I know/trust), crib, mattress, bottles, pump, and boppy... other than that, I think used items are great!
Re: Used vs. New baby items??
Personally, I would not buy a used carseat. They could not be truthful if it was in an accident or not.
I did not breastfeed, but I probably would want a new pump - unless I knew the person and it was a hand-me-down.
I would buy (or receive) anything else second hand

ditto pp's - carseat and crib mattress were my top priorities
bottles, mostly because I believe in going bpa free and older bottles might not be.

New: Car seat, crib mattress, and anything that goes in baby's mouth (bottles, ect) Also I would not get a pump used unless I knew the owner.

Same here. Carseat, crib and mattress. Beyond that, we tried to borrow or buy used for most of the other bigger items.
