Texas Babies

One other question

Has anyone heard of someone having an ultrasound early on and having it show one baby and another a few months later and having it show twins? My friend is questioning whether or not I'm having twins (why I don't know since I still don't even show and I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow) and now I'm freaking out a bit. I won't have another appointment until I can get in with my new OB and only if I can get insurance soon will I get to see her. I may be just freaking out for no reason but I'm questioning.

Re: One other question

  • It's possible, but very rare. When was your first u/s? Twins should show by 5 or 6 weeks, because either there's already two eggs or the one egg would already have split. I had my u/s at 9 1/2 weeks and there were clearly two babies in there.

I was not fitting into my pants very well by around 8 weeks. I could button my pants, but they got uncomfortable. By 12 weeks I couldn't button any of my pants and was permanently in a bella band. By 14 weeks i was solidly in maternity pants. Granted there are some twin moms that show later than I did, but if your'e not seeing any body changes yet I don't know if I would be too concerned.

  • Even if they only SAW one baby on an early u/s there would be some clues that it may be twins... they would be able to estimate how far along you are from what was seen on the u/s, and if it was pretty early on, i would think the hormone levels from your blood sample would be way high for the estimated gestation.

You would find out soon enough... obsessing about it won't change anything. ;)

  • Okay I thought so. I didn't have high HCG levels. I had my US on 7 weeks 5 days. I don't really think it is twins but I was just freaking out. I guess freaking out is part of pregnancy.
