Has anyone had this and continued on with a normal pregnancy? Everything I see looks like this is headed straight for a miscarriage. Looking for any experiences with this. Especially if it turned out positive.
Yes that would be considered low. There is a very good chance you caught it just as it had started beating.
Have they scheduled you for a repeat u/s?
I hope your LO is determined enough to get that heartrate up! Good luck!!
I pray that we just caught it as it just started beating! I have another ultrasound for next Thursday. Will likely know for sure one way or the other by then.
When she was trying to find the heart beat she first thought she wasn't getting a good read on it b/c the beat was inconsistent. Then she finally got something consistent and came up with 74.
We went for our first ultrasound at 6w1 day. The baby was measuring 5w5d and the heartrate was 98. The doctor was concerned, but said it could be because the heart just started beating. She scheduled a follow-up for 1 week later.
Two days after that u/s, I started bleeding. Bright red blood when I wiped. Not enough to fill a pad, but enough to freak me out. It was on a Saturday, so my doctor had me come in on Monday for another u/s. We saw a heart rate of 122 and the baby measured 6w4d.
We went in for our previously scheduled u/s 3 days later. The baby measured 7w0d, but the heart rate was only 95. The doctor prepared us for the worst and told us that we were probably about to miscarry. She scheduled a follow-up for 4 days later.
DH and I were so upset, and thought it was all over. We prayed, but didn't have a lot of hope. Needless to say, we were SHOCKED to see a fabulous heart rate of 167 on that ultrasound. The baby was measuring exactly 7w5d, which was what I should be based on LMP.
Miracles happen every day. Don't give up hope. I'll be praying for you all.

Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you also for the prayers! I will update next week.
If you are right at 6 weeks, then you probably just caught it at the beginning. When the heart first starts to beat, it is usually quite low with regards to what is normal.
I don't know what you consider low (edited: I just read above where you posted it, sorry). My doc wants anything over 100. At one appointment the h/r was 100 bpm and baby measured 6w1d. The next appt the baby measured 6w1d and the heart rate was 86 bpm. That pregnancy ended with miscarriage.
With this pg, the first u/s at 5w4d measured the heart rate at 81 bpm. The doc was a little worried and wanted to see it higher. At 6w5d the heartrate was 147 bpm and great.
My OB doesn't even try to establish a heartrate that early just for this reason. We saw the heartbeat at 5 weeks 6 days but that was all- didn't even attempt to get the rate. I suspect this was just too early and your next one will be much stronger/clearer/faster! Good luck!
I had a similar scare. I was having some bleeding at what i thought was 7 weeks so went for an ultrasound. it dated me at 6 weeks 1 day with a heart rate of 93. the doctor told me that they like to see it over 100 and i left there feeling pretty negative. I went back a week later and the baby was measuring on target and the heart rate was 135.
from what i read online (both good and bad) it seems as though when you have such an early ultrasound it is possible that the low heart rate is due to the fact that it just started beating and is still working its way up.
Re: Low fetal heart rate at 6 week ultrasound?
74 and basing the 6 weeks off of the measurement of the baby.

Here's an example someone posted just a minute ago on PgAL!

try to stay positive
with DS, I was measuring 6wk 3 days. His heart rate was 122. Which is pretty low for a young baby.
he is perfectly healthy!!!
