3rd Trimester

anyone stopping work early?

if so, when are you going out? considering going out at 35 weeks here...

Re: anyone stopping work early?

  • Just a couple of days before my EDD (July 8th) because of the holiday weekend, my last day will be July 2nd...I should leave now though, I feel like I can't focus on a DAMN thing!

  • Im already out. I teach ballet so I decided to go on leave while the girls where on there spring break. I technically was on maternity leave from 35 weeks on. Let me tell you there was no way I was teaching past that.

  • I was going to work until 37w4d, but on Monday (35weeks) my doc took me off work bc of high bp and water retention.

I was incredibly upset at the time, but now, a few days into it, I think she was right. I need this time to sleep bc I'm so exhausted, and relax. Its not a bad idea if you can swing it....

  • 3 weeks before EDD - all paid and won't shorten my maternity leave time with Baby after they arrive so I figured why not?

I have the rest of this week - and then 4 more, but who's counting?!

  • I'm still working!!  I think if I stopped I'd be going nuts sitting home waiting for LO to come!!  As long as your feeling good, I'd reccommend working as much as long as you can.  Unless you have a scheduled cs date or induc date that you can say, "well I'll just be home for a couple days prior."  GL with your decision!!

My dr will write me out as well - how did your work react? how did you manage the whole thing? did you just not come back?

  • I'll be done at 36 weeks. 9 more (work) days and I'm done. :) And I can't wait, because I am super uncomfortable!

  • My last day will be April 30th and my c-section is sceduled for May 6th.  I'm so tempted to just go out now but I'm up for a promotion and I'm already afraid that the timing of everything is going to ruin it for me so I don't want to go out any earlier than planned.  I am on mental maternity leave though.  There is much getting accomplished these days.

I had a heads up that it could happen bc of my bp being so high so I told them that it could happen any Monday...so they had an idea. I am a reading intervention teacher and I work with another teacher, so they didn't even get me a sub since its only 3 weeks early.

I had to take a doctor note in on Tuesday morning (after being taken off work Monday afternoon). They were fine with it. In fact, the principal was like: "I wondered when this would happen! My wife had 3 months off with our girls and she loved every minute of it! Enjoy!" LOL!! So I just said okay thanks and I'll see you in the fall lol.

Really, most of them were very understanding and kind, especially since I was willing to take the paperwork and note in first thing in the morning, stop and talk for a minute, and then leave.

It'll be weird though...they're having a shower for me on Tuesday afternoon so I'm going back for that and I feel like it'll be strange to do so lol

Thanks. I am having so much anxiety about this - my company is not going to be so understanding - they have really failed to get a plan for my absence in place yet. My dh wants me to stop ASAP. I literally haven't slept more than 3 hours a night in 3 days, and they keep piling on the work...

When my doctor told me on Monday, I cried the whole way home and poor DH wanted to be comforting and I just wanted to be alone bc I felt so bad and I had so much anxiety about telling them.

You may be surprised about how understanding they are. Even if not, think of it this way: You need to do whats right for you and your baby. If you weren't pregnant, of course you would keep pushing yourself and keep going. But...you are pregnant. You don't want to hurt your baby bc you're afraid to disappoint someone else. And if you keep working, stressing, and not getting enough sleep, your bp could go up and that can affect the baby in a negative way. My MIL snapped me into perspective on Monday night by saying all that. And now that I've been here for a few days, I can honestly say that she is right. I know that right now, I'm helping my baby. Although I LOVE my job, driving there and working all the time plus trying to keep up at home was hurting me and not helping my baby....now I'm helping her and taking care of me. Its tough to make the choice, either way, but you need to think about you and your baby :)

  • my doc said since my commute is an hour or more some days...I need to stop traveling to work by 36 weeks.  I'm planning on working from home until I pop though.
  • my last day of work is april 28th and i'm due may 3rd, so i'm stopping 4 days before my EDD.

  • I was originally planning on working until 5/9, but may go out as early as next Wednesday depending on how I'm feeling at my next doctor's appointment.  I'm a bartender and there is no sitting on the job so its getting harder everyday to make it through my shift.  My leave isn't paid so I'm kind of free to take it whenever I want it for as long as I want.
Baby #3 is on the way!

  • I haven't decided yet but I'm thinking of stopping the week before my due date. My due date is 5/15.  Still undecided though...

  • My EDD is May 30th and my last day is May 7th.  I'm a special education teacher who takes students in the community at least twice a week so I'm constantly moving.  I'm not working past 37 weeks.  No way am I going to go into labor while teaching!

  • My EDD is June 1st. My last day was April 1st.

I'm a Special Ed teacher too. My district kept pushing in children with more severe cases into my classroom ( 3 students on suicide watch, 3 students with schizophrenia, 4 with emotional disturbances). Since the students weren't taking their meds, seeing counselors, or following recommendations from their psych reports, it was getting dangerous to be a really unsafe environment for baby and me.  Plus, the stress had sent me to L&D once.

So, my doctor had me stop teaching early.

I jut replied to a post above about this. ?My last day was going to be April 30th, ?I just moved it up to tomorrow. ?I can't take it anymore. ?See reasoning in above post! ?My husband was pressuring me as well, it just got to be too much discomfort and pain. ?I've had complications, so my doc didn't have a problem writing me a note. ?It was hard telling them, but I've felt so much better since, it's like a huge sigh of relief! ?Plus, I have a minor surgery on Monday that could induce labor. ?It was better this way.?

  • My EDD is May 13th and I will be working until next Friday when I will be 37w 1d ... My Dr. is taking me off work this early bacuse I have a 1h30min drive each way to work and she does not want me to risk anything plus driving for that long is getting very unconfortable !

I wanted to stay working until 39 weeks but I guess I have no other choice ....

  • My last day of work is May 21st, because the kids I watch stay home in the summer with their mom who's a teacher. Can't wait! I will be 33 weeks.

  • I'm due in late June, but have been off work since early March due to back pain and an unstable pelvis. It has kind of been hard because I love being around people and now most of the time I am at home just getting ready for baby.  DH has to go with me to all my appts and most to help me with my 'chores' as I can't really get around by myself very easily.  Can't wait for June!
