Pregnant after a Loss

We absolutely can't agree on names.

This is ridiculous. After letting it go for several weeks, we started up the "name negotiation" thing again yesterday. We are at complete loggerheads. Mr. Skat has shot down all my names and I can't stand any of his choices.

It would be so much easier if one of us didn't care that much, but we both have strong feelings about names.

I don't know what we are going to do. We might be down to drawing a name out of a hat!

  • the name game is so hard! ?now that we know for sure we're having a boy, it will be starting soon. ?I know we are gonna fight about it. ?Like you, we both feel very strongly about names. ?

    ?

I think you said you had your boy name right? ?Are you just arguing over the girl name????

  • Well, forgive the idea if you hate it, but you are having twins - maybe you could each pick 2 names, and then decide which names will be first names and which will be middle names.  Twin 1 can be named Momschoice Dadschoice, twin 2 can be Dadschoice Momschoice.

  • DH's boy name is growing on me.  Good thing, because he hates every name I've suggested.  Girl names we have a couple.  It's not easy.

  • Thankfully, Dh and i early on decided on a few names we both liked.. so now we just have to pick the winner.. We had a really hard time finding girl names we agreed on.. Boy names were easier..we actually have quite a few boy names we both like, although we have a couple favorites as well..
We think she's a girl, so we only have two names we agree on at all.. Hopefully we can pick one soon. I can't wait to put her name all over everything.

  • Do you want to post some of your top ones and some of his top ones and maybe we can suggest others that you both might like?

  • Dr. G., we are so far apart its comical. I think DH has AWFUL taste.  I tend to like short, old-fashioned names like Ella, Lily, Ruby, Rose,  Rowan, etc.

DH's list has "weird" things that include Claret, Sapphire, Calliope and (I sh*t you not,) Madrigal. I don't know WHERE he's getting some of these.

About the only ones of his I don't just hate on sight is Ivy and Madeleine. Neither of which I am super crazy about, I just don't viscerally hate them.

He said "maybe" to Rose. Which would be cool, as its my great-grandmother's name.

  • We had a really hard time with names too.  We still don't have a decision for either sex, but at least we have a short list.  It's a tough thing to agree on.  I know for me, I always assumed that my spouse would just love the names that I do, but that's not the case!  I hope you guys can agree on something.  You will, the kittens won't be nameless!  :)
  • Skat, is your DH into literature? Sounds like he might be getting the names from classic lit. ??? I agree, his list is pretty "out there" though. :)

Calliope, you could call her Callie. That's cute.

I like the old-fashioned names like you do. I really like Irene too. See if he likes that one (if you do)!

  • Cora?

I think there has to be a compromise out there somewhere!  Good luck.

  • What about Clara?
  • Ack - I'm so worried this is going to be us in a few months.  I know you'll come to some agreement...just hopefully you won't kill each other in the meantime. Wink
  • Madrigal??? ?WTH??? ?
