glider..

are you getting a glider? if so, which one and why?

Re: glider..

  • We got a dutalier glier and ottoman. Because A) it was small enough to fit, B) still reclines, C) coordinates with the room D) it is monterously comfortable. I don't like it I REALLY wanted something more plush but there was no room. But it will serve our needs and probably be gone in 2 years.

  • We're getting a Shermag, this one https://www.amazon.com/Shermag-Glider-Rocker-Ottoman-Cherry/dp/B00194F3A8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1271429321&sr=8-1.

We picked it because it was the cheapest one we could find that had a little more padding on the bottom cushion and that could be locked in position (we were afraid if DD tried to climb up and it moved, she could fall off easily, plus it seemed like it would help prevent pinched fingers).  There's another Shermag (I like the brand, it seemed like a mix of affordability and durability) that has a recline feature, which I liked, but if we wanted to get it with an ottoman it was going to be about $200 more and, as DH said, "If I want to recline, I want to put my feet up!"

(We just bought it last night, hence the long post.  I's excited).

  • We got the EcoComfort glider & ottoman from PBK.  It is a neutral fabric so we can use it for future nurseries (if we are blessed w/ more babies) or elsewhere in the home.  The glider was the one thing we really let ourselves splurge on since I'll be BFing and spending lots of time in it.

  • We bought a dutailier cadenza glider, which is quite plush and wonderful! It's upholstered and looks like an arm chair, so the price we justified as it will be in our living room, they are very well made.

  • The glider is what I did the most research on.  I wanted something  comfortable, higher arms, wider with a tall back and if it reclined that was great.  Duteliner and Schumag were the two that I narrowed it down to and ended up with the Schumag.  With all the expenses for our LO, I couldn't see spending the $$ on a Duteliner and ottoman when the Schumag had just as good reviews and often included the ottoman in the price.  I found ours at a local children's bedding outlet, it had everything I was looking for and both my DH and I think it is so comfortable.  Also I went with a kick plate instead of the gliding ottoman because the ottoman did not lock and I was worried about little fingers getting caught.

    Hope this helps!
