Did you deliver before 40 weeks? Was it induced or just natural? Did your doctors have an opinion if it was better to stay in or come out?
I am currently on 150mg of zoloft and almost in the 3rd trimester. I have done the reading and talked to all of my doctors and they think it is better to be on it.
But I am starting to wonder if it would be better for the baby to be delivered at 37 weeks. Would 3+ weeks without medicine be better than additional time in the womb?
I am going to ask my ob next week but I thought I would ask experienced moms.
Thanks
Re: If you were on antidepressants while PG
I don't understand. Are you considering inducing labor at 37 weeks? For what?
I took Zoloft from 23 weeks to now, and I know some people suggest not taking it the last few weeks of the pregnancy, but my doctor felt it was better for me to be 100% healthy for delivery and for the post-delivery.
Why would delivering early make a difference? Maybe I'm just misreading your post! Sorry!
"There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. So love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
I have also heard to stop it before delivering but I know that is not an option for me. So that is why I was wondering if it is better for the baby to have 3 less weeks of it in his system.
Just wanted to know what others thought. Being in on med or out early.

I am also on zoloft (75 mg) and wouldn't consider delivering early (I have three weeks left). I've been on this medication since conception, and I started it 8 weeks after my first son was born.
150 mg is still a low dose, and studies have been done up to 250 mg. A small percentage of babies have some withdrawal symptoms when born (irritability, fewer have issues breathing) but recovery is 100%. Better to have a well-baked and ready to go baby and a mom who is able to care for the baby. Don't worry - you are both going to be fine.
My doc said if I could wean off it before delivering that would be good (because of some rare possible side effects that he has not actually seen himself), but because of the nature of my anxiety I stayed on it. My son is beautiful, I went into labor naturally on my due date and still take my dose while bf'ing.
I have not had any issues at all and am glad I stayed on it.
