Cradle cap?

LO has a very dry scalp.  Just flaky skin, no yellow scales or anything.  When I gave him a bath I gently rubbed his scalp with a washcloth.  It only made his scalp look way worse and I think I rubbed his hair out.  Now he really looks weird.  Is this normal?

    Sounds like mild cradle cap.

    My DS has mild cradle cap, too.  Pedi told me to wash his hair with Head & Shoulders twice per week and then use his regular Baby Shampoo the rest of the time.  I just started yesterday so not sure yet how well it works.  It's a little scary because you have to be so careful not to get it into his eyes, but we'll see...

     

    Also you can try rubbing either mineral or baby oil into his scalp and then using a comb to gently remove the flakes.

    When lo had cc, I put olive oil on his head and baby oil the next day. After two days it went away... Now I wash his hair/head every day so it doesn't get too oily and he's totally clear. Now if I could just do something about his mild baby acne =]

    I haven't tried it because my pedi said baby acne will just go away on its' own and there is nothing you can do for it... BUT... a friend with a 12-week-old said she put 1/2% Cortisone on it and it cleared it up.
