A couple months ago, my FI agreed to go visit my ILs over Mother's Day (7 hours away!). I was "thrilled" to spend my 1st mother's day at my ILs, but we were suppose to go to a baptism, so I didn't have much choice.
Well, we just found out the baptism isn't going to be that week-end after all! They are having trouble settling a date with their priest. Something about being catholic and not married...I'm not catholic, so I'm not quite sure.
But can I say..YAY!
Re: Yes! I just got great news today!
Yay!!
I wouldn't want to spend my first Mother's Day with my IL's or at a baptism.
No kidding. The godmother is my SIL and the mother planned it so everyone could be home and with their mother's for that day. Yeah..thanks, what about the rest of us.
Yay!
My mother's day is going to blow. We have to go to BILs college graduation that day and its 9 hours ago. Due to the hectic schedule while there and 9 hr each way drive with only a short stay in between, we are now considering leaving DD with my parents. Its looking like I am literally not even see my own child for a second on my first mother's day.
yay! And agreed.
Aww..that really sucks. I agree with letting your DD stay at your mom's. Driving 18 hours will be no fun for her. Can you do a special week-end the week-end before? It won't be quite the same, but the thought will be there.
We are doing exactly that!
I'm so not happy about this. Apparentally, this schools tradition is to always do graduation on Mothers Day. WTH? We were going to take DD with us, but as were thinking it out, it just doesn't make sense. She'll be so exhausted and p!ssed off the whole time and she loves my parents, who watch her daily anyways. My mom and I are talking about doing a Mothers Day get together with me, her and Tillie the next weekend.
I think the part that annoys me the most is that we were still in the hospital with a 2 day old baby for DH's first father's day. How cool is that? I'm totally getting the lame deal on this one.
This is going to be mean, but do you have to go to the graduation? Couldn't your DH just go and you can spend the week-end with your mom and your DD?
I won't say I haven't thought about. I know I would get the total side eye from DHs family for that. And I like BIL, he has done well in school, and I'm excited to see him graduate. Plus, we haven't been away from DD since she was born, so it will be nice for me and DH to have some alone time (though I will be nutty from missing her). I just wish it wasn't Mothers Day weekend.
