Babies: 0 - 3 Months

In preparation for baby...

I thought I would ask you ladies what, if anything, you didn't get a chance to do before your baby was born that would have made your life easier once your LO arrived. I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow and every time I think I've gotten the nursery and everything organized I realize that I don't really know what I'm doing and am really just storing things! Any suggestions? TIA!

  • The main thing I wish I would have done is I wish that I had gone out on a few more dates with my DH before DD arrived, we have been out only a few times since she was born and we brought her with us each time.  Use the last few weeks to enjoy each other! :)

I was really glad that I stocked the changing table and organized it the way I wanted it before she arrived, as I was too tired and brain dead to have done it after.

Also, I was so happy DH put together DD's swing before she arrived--that swing is a lifesaver!!!  DD loves it and it was so nice to put her in it while I napped on the couch.

  • Freezer meals saved our lives. I took a whole Saturday and cooked up a bunch of meals and threw them in the freezer. Between that and things that people brought over for us....I didn't cook for a whole month. That was awesome. It was also nice to not have to do a huge grocery trip during that time.

  • Like PP said, spending time with people and going out to eat and stuff. I hate to take Maddy out of the house, and you dont really get a chance right when they're born.

As far as organizing stuff, I organized my clothes by size, and had all of my changing/diapering stuff together. We dont even use our nursery really except to get blankets, clothes and diapers out of it. lol

Good luck! Be sure to let us know when you have your baby! :)

ETA: frozen meals (store bought or home-made) and lots of snacks help...because as soon as you get ready to cook the baby wakes up and you have to juggle. lol and snacks will keep you alive when you dont have time to eat a meal

  • The only thing I didn't get a chance to do that I wish I would have was to get a hair cut before the birth.  I am trying to figure out how to get to the salon now since I am an exclusive BFer.  LO isn't even taking a bottle yet, so I can't leave him with DH.
