2nd Trimester

Lets set the record straight....

I am THRILLED I am having a boy, not bummed that he's not a girl.

I don't know if its just me or not but every time I tell someone I am having a boy they give me the "oh that sucks" look. Or even say "oh I bet you were hoping for a boy?"

I want to slap them and say "No, actually i'm thrilled and I am thankful that he is healthy!!" Why would people assume that it's a bummer when you are having a boy? A child is a blessing, no matter the sex!

Even before we found out and people would ask what I "wanted" my answer was always, "A healthy baby..."

It's just been bothering me..rant over! :) haha

  • I hear ya.

I actually know a guy who wouldn't speak to his pregnant wife for a week after they found out they were having a girl rather than a boy. FTS.

    "To me, you are perfect."

  • That's really odd. Most people have said to me kind of the opposite, "You must be thrilled it's a boy, first born son" or "You're giving your husband a SON!" that sort of thing. I'm offended in general when people say things like that.

  • Why would they think that?
  • That's weird, very weird. Those people must be projecting their gender preference onto you.
  • I guess I really shouldn't say EVERY TIME but I've noticed it a lot and I just find it so bizarre.

This is one of the saddest things I've ever heard.  He knows that the sperm determines gender, right?

I've heard the opposite, when we said it's a girl, lots of people would say "oh, is (husband) ok with that?" Yes, he is thrilled we are having a baby, and won't send this one back because you assume he wanted a boy first.

  • I get that a lot, but I think it's because I already have a boy, they assume I must be bummed because I'm not having a girl. and  even though I would have like it , I am SO happy to be carrying another boy!
  • I know exactly how you feel, well kind of, i don't know what I'm having yet..

BUT I hate people constantly asking "what do you want boy or girl?"

I always answer I want a healthy baby, i don't prefer one over the other, because I know I will love this little bean no matter what gender he/she is...

Ugh Its irks me when people asking what i would rather have..

  • I know how you feel.  I already have a boy and I've had people tell me they're hoping/praying for a girl.  Ummm I'm just praying for a healthy baby.  Honestly I would LOVE to have another boy.

  • I'm not having a boy, but when I tell people I'm having a girl, they're always like "Oh well you must be REALLY excited then!"  versus....not being excited if I were having a boy??  I really didn't have a preference, and I'd be REALLY excited either way!

  • The other day someone asked me if I was having a boy or girl and I said boy.  Their response was "your husband is so lucky."  I thought that was so strange.  Would my husband be considered unlucky if we were having a girl???
  • We found out we're having a second boy today!  DH and I were ecstatic (we would've been either way) but still, we're excited!  I called to tell my parents and their dissapointment just oozed through the phone, and it seemed as though they expected me to be dissapointed with them WTH?!!!  But my parents are weird anyway, it just sucked. =(
