Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Don't care if you flame me but come on! (Vent)

Okay I a am so grateful that people thought enough about me to want to give gifts 8 weeks after my shower and 2 weeks after my DS's birth.  However, why make things difficult.  At this stage in the game, if you are buying anything other than from the registry then you  run the risk that I don't need it and that it was either already purchased by me or someone who bought it from the registry.  Seriously, I have 3 bouncy chairs now.  One from the shower that I registered for and 2 others .  I have one co worker who wants me to meet her to pick up my gift.  Really, I am leaving the house with my 2 week old son to pick up a gift that you said you were going to bring to work for 5 weeks until I delivered and went on leave.  Then there was another person that I was supposed to meet the day I delivered to have lunch and receive a gift who is also trying to reschedule.  At some point I would suck it up the and either offer to drop off the gift off or send it in the mail but maybe that's just me..  Manybe I think too much about parents who are not getting sleep, cannot leave their homes and probably can't be bothered with exchanging duplicate gifts without gift receipts.  Yep, call me a b**** but I can't be bothered at this stage.  I actually went through the motions of adding more stuff to the registry when people said they still want to give a gift and I can't believe they totally go off and buy random stuff. Why is it so hard to buy from the registry?  In this case I wish people would do what they did for my wedding and just give gift cards and cash.  That would actually be better.

  • I agree with you.  Not like you don't have enough going on.
  • I know how ya feel! People kept bringing me clothes and it was annoying because I had so much and I didnt have time to wash it. Geez!
  • No flames, but I would actually really like to have more than one bouncy chair.  I'd leave one in the nursery and one in the living room.

  • I totally agree. No flames here.
  • I totally agree.  I had 2 showers and only 2 people bought stuff off my registry.

  • i had a shower with over 50 guests- 2 of which bought off the registry.  we had another shower after LO was born with about 30 guests- none of which bought off the registry that i updated a week after she was born.  YES, its frusterating people dont by off of your wish and needs list, but i had to remind myself that it was just a suggestion of items they could buy or not buy.

im not calling anyone ungrateful or flaming, but, too busy to accept gifts?  im thankful and grateful for anything thats given to us, even if we dont need it, or if we have to go out of our way to exchange it.  its a GIFT.

  • Absolutly no flames.  I can relate.  The thank you notes are killing me... and I have another shower next weekend (don't even want to get started on that one).  Speaking of gifts not registered for, does anyone else have about 60 onesies and no pants, shorts, longies etc.?  I'm out of drawer space and anticipate more onsies next weekend.  I hope someone gifts DS some pants.
  • Can I add, what's with giving gifts that are for ages 3+  Now I have to store the damn thing for 3 years?????  really?

I have 30 blankets. And about 4 of them are actually practical for use. The others are all decorative types.

LOL! (Sorry - lurking from 3-6)  That made me laugh though - I have about that many blankets too.  I can remember opening each one and saying, "Oooohhh, this is soooo niiiiiiice...."  and thinking "OMG...how many blankets do we have now???"  I felt bad at the same time too because each one was handmade by someone who was being very thoughtful, but they are all just piled up in the closet now.

In my case, they are all too fluffy and warm for this cali weather. I got a few thinner blankets that we use and the others will go away for the winter weather, hopefully.

  • I had a huge bris for my son (my parents doing, NOT mine!) and ended up having to write 114 thank you notes for gifts, some from people I have never even met. INSANITY!! Not what I needed to be doing with the rare moments of free time while I finally got DS to nap! My husband and I had to buy a storage locker for everything.

  • Thanks for understanding ladies.  I am among my peers so you all can relate.  Oh and to accompany the 3 bouncy chairs.  I received yet more onsies and bibs today but at this point I am just rolling with it.
