  • The girls got into our top preschool choice.  It's such a relief, and it's so crazy how much I stressed about it.  I'm less worried for college because admission is (usually) based on merit.

We're potty training the girls.  It's a lot easier/better than I thought it would be.  We unknowingly used the three day method that you can read about online.  Oh, and parents with kids who can walk should do a ton of naked time outside this summer.  I think it made our training experience a lot easier.

I ran the twin group's resale last week, and it was hugely successful.  We raised a lot of money to buy some preemie car seats and car beds.  The next one is scheduled for the last weekend in September.

  • New mom here!  Things are going really well and Macie is growing fast.  BF has been pretty smooth so far.  Sleep and schedules are just not happening at our house.  We have tried pretty much everything at this point and are just getting maybe 2-3 hour chunks of sleep even at night.  I guess that some babies sleep more than others.  We have really enjoyed having her and I cannot wait to attend some of the play groups that you guys have on here.  How is everyone else doing?  Enjoying the sun? Have a great Thursday!

That's great about the preschool!!  I am so nervous about that already, ugh.  There's a Catholic school right next to our house, they have preschool, and that's where I'm leaning towards right now.  But we aren't Catholic, lol.  I just really like the idea of not having to buy school clothes to fit every latest fashion trend.

Glad to hear about the potty training!  Are you using stickers?

Also, thank you again for the Nanny Service rec!  I have used them a bunch of times and they are FANTASTIC.

  • I went to Catholic School, and I'm not Catholic.  I feel it can be hard in elementary school because kids believe what they're told.  That works if Catholic beliefs match your own, but it could be a problem if they don't.  I understand the whole clothes thing though.

No stickers or rewards, just a lot of clapping and making a big deal out of things.  They seem to respond well to the positive affirmation.  Oh, and I like both the Baby Bjorn potties with the removable bowl and the Bjorn potty seats that fit right on the big toilet.  You'll want one on each floor of your house or you'll do a lot of stair climbing and decending.

I'm so glad the sitters have worked out.  We've had great success too.  They're all going to be done with student teaching in a month, so they should have a lot more time.

Do you have an update for us Jen?

  • Hi! We're good. Been having night time sleep issues last couple weeks. She's STTN since birth, but last couple weeks she won't do it. Went to her 9mth appt today and Dr said some if it is due to seperation anxiety because she's waking up and I'm not there and it's causing her stress, but she said she'll grow out of that. Another part of it is growth spurt/milestones. She has learned to clap, wave, babble, pull to stand, and walk with her push walker on her own all in the last month. (the standing just in the last couple weeks.) But the BIG part of the sleep that I didn't realize 'cause she won't let me look and I didn't feel anything is that Dr Crowley found that she pushed a top tooth through, has another one piercing and two more are swollen and ready to come soon. So that's a LOT on a lil one all at once. And they're all top teeth too. Poor baby. I was told to get teething tablets. Anyone used those? Anyway...that's about it for us. Oh, and we went to another Blazer game last night...it was super fun! Kayleigh has a shirt that says "I might be small but I'm a HUGE Trail blazer fan!" Wink Hope y'all have a good day! Tomorrow we're going to the tulips in Woodburn! Lots of pics to be taken!

  • My update:

B is still pretty awesome!  She is full on crawling all over the place, and she's SO fast!  It's crazy.  She is pulling herself up on everything.  Daycare lady says she's been taking steps with her push-truck, but I still haven't seen her do it, so I kinda think she's just making it up, lol... I was worried because she was SUCH a late crawler, but now, looking back, I wish I hadn't worried so much.  She's just a lazy baby.  Just like her mom...

She's cut herself off from formula and is fully on solids.  It's fun giving her different foods.  She LOVES green beans, which I think is soooo wierd.  She's eating toast, crackers, drinking milk out of a sippy, it's really cool to watch her grow up.  No more bottles = awesome!

Still NO teeth!  None!  Both me and my DH didn't have teeth until we were older than 1 though, so I'm not worried about it at all.  We feel like her little gums have been inflamed forever now though, poor girl.

B has started "talking".  I've heard her say "bad baby", "love you" and of course "mamamama" and "dadada".  And when she pets our sogs she says "daaaaa" which I think means Dog.  My little genius!

I'm really nervous to bring her out on the boat this summer.  Like, I have anxiety about it when I think about it.  I already bought her 2 super cute swimsuits, and now need to find a good life vest (hopefully a Barbie one!).  So far she loves bath time, and I will take her in the pool a lot his year to get her used to the water.  I am a total "fish" so I hope she takes after me and loves the water also.

We are also going to Tulip Fest tomorrow!  DH is taking off work so we all have a skip day together, so excited!

  • We're doing good.. Miss Morgan has now gained 2lbs, and 2 inches.. in 2 months! She's so long and skinny, it's adorable.  We had a scare the end of March when she came down with RSV and we had to spend 2 nights in the hospital, but we came out of it alive and kicking.  I actually think it helped some of the sleep issues we were having, as now all I have to do is lay her in her crib around 10-11 at night, and she'll sleep for about 6 hours straight.. every night.  It's pretty awesome.. Especially because I started back to work on Monday and she started daycare.  So now mama is getting sleep at night, yay!

Going back to work has been very excited, because upon my return, I started a new job at the same place I've always worked.  I was promoted to the HR department (from accounting) and I couldn't be more thrilled.  Very excited to start this new path, as I have my 3 year anniversary here tomorrow :)

  • I'm doing well. We've been living with DH's parents since moving up here in December..and we finally just put in for an apartment off of Cedar Hills, so that DH is close to Sunset Station for school, so it'll save us gas money [woo hoo!] So we should find out by Monday if we got the apartment or not! I'm so ready to get out of this house MIL and I have a good relationship, but living with her, really makes me not like her so much haha.

DS is doing well. He's such a dare devil, and has no fear of anything. He's starting to talk now, so we're having to watch what we say and are really trying to teach him what everything is..its so cute! I bought him a Toy Story toddler bed set, with a matching pillow and wall decorations so that he can finally have a decorated room...and he LOVES Toy Story. He's got an attitude, which is getting old very fast..his favorite word is...NO. haha. But then you can't be too mad at him, cuz he'll do something really cute afterwords and its like..ahh I can't be mad at you..you're too cute! Sleeping still sucks. He sleeps about half the night in his bed, then climbs into our bed, because we're crammed into one room, so when we get the apartment, he'll finally have his own room! And mommy and daddy can have alone time..till DD comes!

Pregnancy is going well! I've calmed down about having a c-section, and actually have come to the mindset of if I have a c-section, I don't have to wait for all the water breaking and labor crap, which is a plus because labor with DS SUCKED! And with a c-section, I can pick her birthday..which is great because in our families, we have a lot of July birthdays, and I want her to have her own birthday and not share it with anyone. :) I've been really good about not spending a crazy amount of money on clothes for her, but I did splurge today..Target had a bunch of cute outfits and jammies for like under 10 bucks..so I got a bunch :D

Other than that..just living life day by day..and making sure that DS doesn't kill himself. haha.

  • Oh, Melanie you reminded me!!  Bianca has learned how to throw a hissy fit!  She will jump up and down, shakign her head no back and forth.  When I try to pull her out of her high chair, she arches her back and hits her head on the back of the chair!  Then she locks her legs underneath the chair so I can't pull her out.

I can't help but laugh because it's SO funny, but I know that by laughing, I'm encouraging it, which I need to stop ASAP.  But it is really cute!

  • We're doing good!  Evan has been going to preschool 2x a week and has been enjoying it.  Kaden and Nolan are getting into everything that they can and just being darn cute.  I really have enjoyed the couple days of sunshine we have had so I can get the kids outside and run off some of their energy.

  • harlosc! Totally normal at that age for them to only sleep 2-3 hours at a time even at night. It will get better. The first 6-8 weeks were the hardest for us.

The_Jen~ We want to hear all about your trip to Spain and Italy! Give us a recap will ya?

Us! We're doing really well. DD is learning so many things over the past few weeks. She's all about reading books and picking up words and she loves to draw. She's thriving in daycare. And while she still has temper tantrums we seem to have found a way to keep them short and then we have our happy girl back.

  • Doing good on our end! Raleigh was quiet and calm for the first 7 weeks and now all of the sudden she is a bit more fussy throughout the day. Err! We are trying to start her on some formla so she isn't shocked by it on the 28th when I go back to work. I've been mixing it with breastmilk. She also has a cold right now, so i can't tell if she has tummy aches and gas or if she is just sick and uncomfortable. Sleeps good at night though. We usually get 5-7 hour stretches in, but she does not really nap throughout the day. maybe a half hour or so on my chest. if I lay her down she wakes right up. But I love her, and couldn't have asked for a better baby! I'm dreading going back to work :(
  • Asher is about the same age as yours and we've also been having awful sleeping problems for several weeks. He's up anywhere from 2 to 5 times a night. All the reasons you listed seem about on par with us too. I through in a huge move on top of the rest.

We did use the Hyland's homeopathic teething tabs. I don't think they are really much more than sugar tablets, but they do seem to calm him down when i can tell his teeth are buggin him. He also likes to chew on a frozen wash cloth.

  • Hi ladies!  It's going well here.  Camryn hit that three month landmark and is getting cuter by the minute.  I melt with the endless giggles and toothless grins.  I have a fun story though...I went to the Muse/Silversun Pickups concert at the Rose Garden with my other mommy friend here in PDX (she also just moved here from Seattle in February).  Midway through the concert, some random security dude in a suit came up to us, checked out IDs (we thought we were in trouble!) and gave us two backstage passes for after the concert to meet the bands.  It was seriously so random.  I guess they pick out 6 people in the crowd to give these passes to.  It was free drinks and food in this lounge type area.  It was our first "mom's night out" and we had such a blast.  Anyways...that is my crazy story I thought I'd share.

Jen, I was wondering how your vacation went also...I remember your ticker counting down the days!

Heading to my parents' house in Palm Springs next week for 10 days of much needed sun.  Can't wait to take Camryn swimming for the first time in her little pink bikini (yes, bikini, it's so darn cute!).

  • Hi Ladies - I agree, this board is slow, I spend most of my time on the 3rd Tri board.  I am due in less than 12 weeks with our first - very excited and anxious all at the same time.  Had my shower last weekend (kind of early b/c my Mom is moving ot Alasksa).  We received so many gifts (soooo many clothes) it is just amazing!

The nursery is pretty much ready to go.  We ordered our crib and mattress quite a while ago and DH painted an antique dresser and replica armoir for her bedroom.  I bought some pretty glass drawer pulls to add to them.  My mom sewed our crib set and it came out beautifully!  I painted and hung the wall letters for her name over the crib (DIY stuff from Michaels only came to $19!).  We got our Bob stroller a few weeks ago through the REI member sale for $80 off, so that was great.  We ordered and have received our swing and carseat and are waiting on our our pack n play, second stroller, temporal thermometer, video monitor ($70 less on Amazon than BRU and Target!) and curtains.  As you can tell, I love finding a bargain!

Other than that, we still need to get the breast pump and some odds and ends (bath tub, clippers, nose sucker, etc.), but all in all, things are coming along nicely.  My pregnancy has been very easy so far and I am so thankful for that.  Here's to hoping the rest of 3rd tri sails by!

  • I agree that this board is slow!!  Come on ladies!  Lets pump it up! :D

August just turned 7 months.  I can't even believe it!  We have 1 more week of swim lessons until they are over.  In the 3 weeks we have been in them he has changed so much!!  Right now he LOVES the feel of things.  We haven't been giving him baths but have been taking him in the shower which he just loves.  He HAS to have his hands in the water feeling the stream of water.  Tonight he had his head under the shower streams and was opening his mouth trying to drink the water!!  Still can't get over that one.  He also does this thing now where he tries to look around you if you are holding him and this cute little butt shake like if he is excited.  I have started using some sign language with him and am thinking of going to a baby sign language class.  Today I volunteered all day at one of the consignment sales and really really missed August.  It surprised me.  I am always with him but I do leave to run errands once dad is home.  Between seeing all the brand new babies and selling some of his baby stuff, I was actually starting to get teary at one point.  I am supposed to be going on a mom's weekend in May to the beach but I think I am going to have to skip it.  I just can't leave him overnight.  7 months has turned out to be SUCH a cute age.  So far I wouldn't trade it for any other.  Also, I swear that he has said "hi" after I said it to him.  I am sure he didn't, but he had to of really tried because it sure sounded like it!

We are also in the process of buying a condo.  I can't believe I will finally be able to decorate my baby room!!

Glad to see how everyone is doing!  Good Idea Jenn!

  • Hey Jen! First of all, I can't believe how big she is! OMG! How are you doing? When are you going to make it back down here?

I am doing alright, just lost my gramps and thatsbeen super hard. On a lighter note, the do started me on Clomid and I go in again this week for another u/s to see how things are going. Hopefully it's enough to do the trick... I thought I was getting off easy and not having hot flashes.... yeah that all changed two nights ago. :( But, if thats how it goes!

  • Let see.....I am 7mo pregnant and doing great, except for the occasional BH and awful heartburn.  I can't believe we will be meeting DS in just about 2mo. We have picked out a name, but DH wants to wait and tell after he is born. So we are waiting.  We told with DD- and decided to wait with DS.  Sorry Jen- still not telling. LOL.  We are starting to get things together, just need to get in gear and get it all done.

In DD news... she is 15mo old now.  She is so much fun.  She is starting to talk more - well, mainly sounds, but she is more vocal through out the day.  She loves her Daddy and gets very excited when he comes home. I have been doing sign language with her since she was 6mo old. She can sign about 15 different signs.  I love being able to communicate with her. Over the past few weeks we have taught her 'please' and 'thank you'.  It really is cute to see her sign those ones.

I am just enjoying everyday with DD and can't wait for DS.

  • Hi there! I know I'm late, but I thought I would pop in too. I am terrible about checking this board lately.

DD is almost 17 months. I can't believe my "little baby" is now, suddenly a big girl who can run around on her own, say tons of words, communicate with people all on her own, and figure out random things that I would not expect her to. She is amazing me every day. I love this age, and just wish I could freeze time.

I am still a SAHM but watch another LO full time too, so I often feel like I have 2 kids... which makes me wonder if I really want to have 2 kids of my own. LOL!

E and I can not wait for summer so we can get outside. Whee!
