Flameful - and silly -question.

Mikey inherited a one-piece swimming costume from his cousin. It's cute enough, for what it is, but I always thought of M learning to swim in trunks.

Is it worth shelling out $20 for a supercute pair of trunks at Baby Gap? Or should I just use the swimming outfit for the few times he'll be in a pool over the coming months?

Re: Flameful - and silly -question.

  • I'd spend $20 for super cute.....and then you can use them both.  We got Laney 2 suits from Old Navy and plan to interchange them (of course, being in Florida, we'll get a LOT of use out of them for several months...)

  • I would totally spend the money. As I've posted before though, I'm addicted to buying baby clothes.

I would wait 4 weeks. It will probably be on sale by then. Or check our children's place. They have really cute suits.

    Good idea.

And thanks ladies! I was leaning towards getting the trunks, I just wanted some reassurance that I wasn't being a crazy spendthrift.

  • I'm a cheapass so...

  • I would get the trunks. Am I the only one who has no idea what a "one-piece swimming costume" is? Like those things from the 20's? If so, definately the trunks.

Sorry. The IL's are English and call swim suits, all swim suits, "swimming costumes." I guess that because it's not what I'm used to I called it the English name.

    It looks like a wet-suit.

  • Not flameful. Buy it!
  • I'm cheap.  Wait a few weeks when other stores have them in stock and buy a cheap pair of trunks.  He'll only be able to wear them a few months.  Not worth the $20.  That's a box of diapers!

  • Target has swim trunks for $7.  Old Navy often has them on sale too.
  • Shell out the $20, Mikey's worth it!

This this? I've seen them. If we were swimming outside I think it would be great because I have such a fair baby.
