We all know how hard bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the thread has yet to start for that day!

Name: Diane

Due date: 8/13

Date placed on bedrest: 21w4d 4/06/10

Type: hospital bedrest

Why: shortened cervix/3 cm dilated/cerclage

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

Up here in Ohio, the season for mowing the lawn and getting flower beds in order has just begun.  I really, really hate yard work.  I do the least amount of work possible to make the yard presentable.  I have always dreamed of flower beds full of pretty flowers, and bushes of wild berries in my back yard.  Maybe I should get some help with this, this year.  Ha, ha.

Update: Good news today from the Doc.  I continue to show no signs of infection or PTL since the cerclage, so he is talking about increasing my activity level a little over the weekend, and planning for discharge home to bedrest on Monday night.  It sounds like I will be on very limited activity until 28 weeks, with the hope that I will be able to do a little bit more after that.  I am feeling positive about the coming days.

Re: Bedrest Mamas Daily Check-In ***Thursday

  • Just wanted to let you all know that I think my water broke.  I've been having steady contrax since yesterday, but didn't think anything of it.  Getting ready to go into the hospital!  Fingers are crossed that Miss Livy is ready to grace us with her presence.

    Due date: 5/8

    Date placed on bedrest: 3/31

Type: home bedrest - "you can get up to pee and get food"

    Why: PIH

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

Yes! I absolutely love it! We bought a house that had been remodeled, but they hadn't done anything to the yard. Literally. It was dirt - no grass - overgrown with weeds and trees. My husband let me come up with the layout for it and (it only took us five years) but we've finally got to where we can just "enjoy" the yard. But every year I look forward to May in Idaho when I can finally plant my vegetable garden and plant annuals all around the front and back yard. It's been so nice here that it's driving me stir crazy to be stuck inside.

Update: Nadda. NST tomorrow. Haha - we did get our first bill for my NST's. We haven't met our deductible yet, so we got the full bill for them. DH called to make sure, because the bill was dated 3/31 - the day I got put on bed rest - and sure enough, the bill was for ONE NST (and I've been getting two a week) - $227.00. Guess we'll be meeting our deductible soon!

I love gardens, but I do not like working in the garden, haha.  I have no idea what I'm doing out there.  I'm sure if I knew more I would enjoy it more.  We just have a side yard now with some rose bushes. No grass, just gravel. Thinking about hiring someone to come fix it up.

    Update:

34 weeks today. 2 more weeks and I'm FREE!! Hope I can get some stuff done before the baby decides to come once I start walking around.

    Due date: 6/26 - scheduled c-section 6/8

Date placed on bedrest: 3/11 @ 24 weeks

    Type: modified bed rest

    Why: irritable uterus/PTL contrax.

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

The previous owner of our house had planted some flower beds that now have some really nice mature plants in them.  However the problem is that when she lost the house (we bought it from foreclosure) she let it get overgrown with grass and weeds.  Neither DH or I have a green thumb between us, and have no idea how to get rid of the grass and weeds without killing everything.  So we spend all summer digging out weeds and grass, and we're really dreading it this year!

Update: Had my (almost) 30 week appt. today and the girls are weighing 3#5oz and 3#6oz, and both were practicing their breathing!  While I still contract every day, I'm not having episodes of 4-6 per hour, my cervix is holding strong at 4+, and my FFN was negative!  All very good news - as it turns out I'm a really good incubator as long as I'm off my feet :)

    Due date: 5/29

Date placed on bedrest: 2/29 at 26w5d

    Type: modified bedrest

    Why: short cervix/biornuate uterus/IUGR

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

Well I do consider maintaining my yard a chore, and so does DH.  I attempted to plant a bunch of flowers a week before I was put on bedrest.  So safe to say they have been neglected and most have died.  :(  I love the look of flowers and did enjoy planting the small stuff in Feb.  Maybe I'll try again.

Update-Well I'm officially tired of going to doctor's twice a week.  It seems I have a good week and then a bad week.  Yesterday they found my amniotic fluid to be low and trace protein in my urine.  Ugh anything else.  Just a few more weeks.  I've been seeing the NP lately and I don't like her, she can never answer my questions.  ugh I'm going to try to schedule my remaining appts with the doc.  Fri we will check my amniotic fluid again.  Hopefully it goes up, I've been chugging water like it's going out of style.

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

I do enjoy it. Since we just moved I had been planning on fixing up our tiny little "yard" with new flowers and plants, but it looks like that is out.

Update: I'm new so not much to update. My next appointment is next Thursday when my OB will do another fFn test.

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

Answer:  I normally consider gardening a chore- but I LOVE it when it's all done and looks nice.  After being on bedrest since January- I plan to take my time and really enjoy the gardening this year.  My sister just lent me an outside bassinet (I haven't seen these in stores- I have no idea where she got it)  but it's smaller than a pack n play, and the netting zips over the top so no bugs or anything can get to LO.  I can't wait to set it up in the shade and me and baby can make our backyard beautiful.

Update: OB appt tomorrow.  Hoping for an end game plan.  Other than that, I've been washing all the baby gifts that I received last weekend- and his room is really starting to come together too!

It's been nice because as bedrest has been moving along, we're getting less worried- and more excited everyday!

QOTD: Do you enjoy gardening, maintaining your yard, and planting (flowers or gardens)?

Yes.  We had just moved into our new home a few weeks before I was put on bedrest so all my big plans for the yard are still just that - plans.  The lawn is more of a clover and dandelion forest.  I bought some garden boxes from Sam's club but they are still sitting in the garage.  I'm hoping that in a couple weeks my restrictions will be lifted and I can plant some annuals and hopefully persuade DH to put together the garden box.  I really think that my DD would love to watch things grow this summer.

Update: DH came home today and thinks that LO has dropped.  I noticed it today too but thought it was my imagination or how I was sitting.
